Allegiance to Princes

I think some sort of system where your individual characters could pledge their allegiance to different daedric prince's either one or a few and Aedra would be a cool addition. It would add to the individuality of a character and maybe there could be bonuses for service to the pledged. You could build up a personal relationship with the Prince.

Hmm. Be an apostle of Pyrite. Spread the love of the taskmaster.

    I'm down for the idea.

It would be cool if each Prince gave a different small buff, too. Like, if you followed Hermaeus Mora, you get a slight buff to researching faster in crafting. If you followed Clavicus Vile, you get a slightly better deal on fencing items. Nothing combat-oriented, but it would be cool. Only problem would be trying to figure out 17 different small buff for all the princes. Even more if you throw in the eight Divines, too. And what about Hist-worshipers or followers of Sithis, etc?

But yes, I like the idea.

I love the buffs idea, very cool.

Not only princes but every faith of tamriel!

I'd love to have a faith system implemented. Some could have a permanent buff and others could have a conditional buff. They shouldn't be combat related if possible so that we won't get into a balance mess and nerf thread and complaints from PvP and PvErs. My wish would be for it to be something to discover for the explorers and something for the RPers to enjoy. Just imagine, hidden shrines all over tamriel? Sounds awesome!

Turning the Daedric Princes into another version of a Mundus Stone is just the same problem Vampirism creates. The lore and personal meaning behind the choice is thrown out the window and choosing a Prince becomes mandatory for builds since all it does is give you yet another boon. Who cares if you're pledging your soul to Dagon, the Prince of Hell itself, you get some sweet stats! :/

Players would never be happy with it just being a story choice with no gameplay effect which means it'll have to do something to your character, and if that's the case it'll need some kind of debuff to counteract it, in order to make the choice more meaningful.

I agree and you should be able to change allegiance and in stories in future maybe your allegiance could affect outcomes or dialogues. I don't know how possible this is or if its too complex but it would be fun. Maybe if you support one deity, another opposing one might not support you.

This would be tough since many are main story antagonists.

And you are not the first to have thouse thoughts: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/231126/worship-in-tamriel-an-eso-religion-concept/p1

Hmmm, maybe someday I should take that old discussion, and reorder all the ideas I like into a concept and start a new thread on the forums for this...

Building up relationships with Daedric princes huh, well um I for one would be starting in a negative stance with my prince, especially given that I uh stopped her from doing stuff in clockwork city and then the uh Summerset incident... 👀
Nocturnal would probably not be so quick to name me as a Nightingale or champion of the night 🙃

That's actually what made me think of the idea. I am currently doing Summerset and my character is opposing a daedric Prince who I feel she would really support normally although she probably would oppose what the outcome of her actions are. I don't want to say too much and spoiler Summerset for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

    I like this idea. :)

My main characters are building shrines to Azura/h and Kynareth/Khenarthi in their home (delayed by the distinct lack of Aedra themed furnishings, especially statues) but it would be nice to have something to make it official.

Two ways to deal with that:
    1) Make it purely a story choice and people who aren't happy with that can simply ignore it, like housing or outfits.
    2) Make it all non-combat bonuses like the argonian swim speed buff or a 10% increase in experience gain with a specific skill line, or a tiny increase in gold from kills. There will still be some people who feel they must have a certain one but it's unlikely other players in your group will insist on a specific one.
