I had a huge amount of Tel Var Stones banked and felt like spending a bunch of it before I lost my craft bag. Here are the results from spending 2,000,000 Tel Var Stones on Waxed Apothecary’s Parcels!

Notes:
• This was all spent in the Scalebreaker patch (Update 23)
• 2,000,000 Tel Var Stones
• 4000 Waxed Apothecary’s Parcels
• 18 alchemy reagents per Waxed Apothecary’s Parcel
• Each Waxed Apothecary’sParcel contains 6 slots of alchemy reagents
• Each slot is 3x of a random alchemy ingredient (different slots can contain the same reagent)
• Altogether, I gathered 72,126 reagents
• Clam Gall and Powdered Mother of Pearl is added in addition to the regular drops
• There are 30 alchemy reagents in the game - 26 alchemy reagents were dropping

Comments and Suggestions:
- Tone down the Columbine, Mountain Flower, and Blue Entoloma drop rates. Currently they are dropping more than anything else
- Allow Emetic Russula and Luminous Russula to drop at the same frequency as ingredients like White Cap! I didn't even get 1,000 Emetic Russula or 1,000 Luminous Russula.... yet I had over 7,000 Columbine
- Torchbug Thorax and Mudcrab Chitin are not dropping. Add these to the list of possible alchemy reagents, but at an uncommon drop rate (such as the current drop rate of Emetic Russula)
- Clam Gall and Powdered Mother of Pearl rarely dropped. This is good as they should stay rare.
- Dragon's Bile and Dragon's Blood did not drop. I think it is okay, as they should be sourced only from Dragons.
- Allow us the option to get the ingredients faster!!!! It was very tedious to open 4,000 parcels and took hours of time. Let us acquire the ingredients directly on purchase at least if we are buying large amounts

Waxed Apothecary’s Parcels are a solid source of ingredients. I'm sure what I received was a pretty good measure of the actual drop rates too. Hope it helps!

Ofc! I had to disable auto-stowing of materials in my craft bag to horde them in my bank. Made it so every 400K or so tel var spent I had to run back to the bank, deposit, run back to the vendor, etc. It was worth it to record the results though.

And what is all that worth when it's turned into gold ?

Milions of gold. Depends which server you on. But still Milions.

Super quick back-of-the-envelope calculation taking the minimum suggested price for from TTC (PC/NA) is roughly 8.3 million gold. Absolute minimum there.

I thought that buying Hakeijos would be much more profitable than alchemy, but, unless my math to calculate the net alchemy cost is very wrong (a possibility for sure), 2,000,000 gold will get you 400 Hakeijo. Taking the bare minimum there of 13k per, that's a minimum profit of 5.2 mil gold.

I'd have thought without a doubt that Hakeijo would be the way to go, but it looks like in the long term, the waxed satchels are much more profitable.

Wow, thanks for recording all that data!

I wonder if the relative abundance of Columbine is related to the extremely high cost of that reagent when ZOS first launched the apothecary parcels for IC. At the time it may have made sense to overcompensate - it certainly drove prices down at the time - but perhaps we've moved beyond that by now?

I had completely forgotten about those satchels. I need to farm the sewers more often, im in dire need of Weapon Pot ingredients.

Tbh, Id prefer for them to stay rare. Those ingredients are better off coming from Summerset. And the dragon ingredients from Elsweyr.

The main issue with these waxed apothecary’s parcels is how Torchbug Thorax and Mudcrab Chitin don’t drop, despite similar ingredients like Butterfly Wings dropping :/ I think this was an accident by ZOS unless there is a lore-related reason I’m missing.

I don't know about all of the different ingredients you listed, but I do know that Columbine is one of the ingredients that is in high demand right now because of its Alchemical effects. There's a whole thread complaining about the price of Columbine at the Guild Traders. Asking ZOS to reduce the drop rate of Columbine from the Waxed Apothecary Satchels might not go over very well with players who are eager to obtain as much Columbine as they can, either to use themselves in crafting, or to sell to other players.

The OP is from 2019. Columbine price and demand were dramatically different then. The data on what's in the satchels is still useful, but the recommendations are long out of date. I expect the thread to be closed shortly.

Ah, I didn't notice that someone had necroed this thread. /buck-toothed-dunce-in-a-dunce-cap Thank you for pointing that out! Yep, the statistics in the OP are interesting and might still be pertinent, but the thread will probably be locked to prevent any other misguided responses like mine! :)

Please don't tone down the columbine drop rate lol.

Columbine is ridiculously expensive and tri-pots are guzzled non-stop in the majority of PvP builds. The fact that Alchemy Parcels bought with a PvP currency are one of the best ways to farm the material is a good thing.

    Greetings,

We have closed this topic as it was originally created in September 2019. In many cases, it's better to create a new thread on a topic that you want to discuss as opposed to bumping one that is rather old.

    Thank you for your understanding.
