The destruction of Templar class identity

I don't understand this. Templars were already gutted. With several of their main abilities nerfed hard. Now in the newest patch notes we get even more EXTREME nerfing on top of that.

Puncturing strikes is a mess and you even admit it in the patch notes that you're just leaving it like that until you can fix it in "later updates".
Toppling charge has tons of problems, as do other templar abilites, but no one fixes that.

Spear Shards was devastated with blazing spear's damage nerfed 42 percent per tick. That was last patch. Now for the upcoming patch, you have the AUDACITY to reduce the damage per tick of blazing spear by 59 percent. Luminous was gutted, too. Spear shards is a very important tool for templars and their class identity. It is literally unusable now. Unbelievable. And you increased the base cost horrifically.

Solar barrage, another very important staple of the templar class, was reduced by 33 percent per tick. Now in this upcoming patch, damage is reduced by another 30 percent. Unusable.
Sun fire now has damage reduced by 60 percent. Unusable.

Ritual of retribution has now been reduced in damage by 33 percent. Disgusting.


Living dark and unstable core have been nerfed hard as everyone expected. Now templars literally have nothing they can use. I wanted living dark to be fixed, but not have EVERYTHING ELSE completely ruined. Templars are destroyed. It has completely annihilated my rotation. I enjoy templars because of their class abiliites. That's why you pick a class. I'm max level and run vet dlc, trials, etc. I don't even know if I can do these things anymore with my templar. My MAIN. The character I spent countless hours working on and thinking up strategies and rotations.

I don't know what you're trying to accomplish with this, ZOS, but you might as well delete the templar class if you're going to continue down this path. Create class change tokens so I can keep playing my main, otherwise I have no motivation to play this game anymore. I'm sorry to be spitting venom, and I'm sorry for being dramatic, but this company keeps making decisions that show they don't care. Just so much greed. It's like the people who work on combat have literally no idea what they are doing, and they thrive on wrecking their longtime customer's experience.

Even if the nerfs of the last patch had never happened, these current nerfs soon to be implemented are absolutely unacceptable. With both, it's untenable.

    Can confirm Strikes is good, but also useless. Its literally a hit or miss. And with the change we lose THAUMATURGE. and Master-At-Arms right now doesn't buff them.... So I guess strikes loses 20% dmg directly?

    hmm, puncturing works great in pvp right now, so fast and i land 3-4 strikes every time compared to 1-2 before. The bubble is great, much better than total dark. I love my templar in cyrodiil right now. I don't look forward to the damage nerf though.

    Wait what? Master at arms doesn't buff jabs? That must be an oversight. If its direct damage it should be buffed by MaA. So if thats really true then take some screen shots and tag people.

    Its okay, once you move higher and higher and fight people that are good asf you'll realize strikes rarely works, and if theres any ping issue it takes 10 seconds to go off fully

    I play in Kaal on PS4, so laggy server with high pop. It works so much better than it did before scalebreaker when i could barely hit people with it. I have not run my temp in BG's so not sure how it performs in there.

    Yes it does on PTS. Thaum no longer does so magplar kind of loses the synergy with off balance damage boost as buffing DOTs is kind of pointless. Stamplar still has plenty in that tree to still get 75 points in, and can use dizzying swing and get away from having to use toppling.

    For my magplar, taking the points out of thaum and putting it in other damage and heal boosting CP, it's almost a wash from losing that off balance buff. And PL is ridiculous as I was getting stupid numbers when critting.

    Think this is a PVE complaint thread. Dont know anything about that.

    Good to know, I thought that sounded like a crazy oversight that even ZOS couldn't pull off. Im pretty happy about it. I figured magplars would pretty much come out even and its a great change for stamplars. Yeah, Im also considering using dizzy for off balance and the new javelin for CC as that should pack a nice little punch now. But that said I really like toppling being a gap closer cc and off balance. Its a great skill and I can manage the mag pool for it.

    wow, didn't they just buff it 2 updates ago? Why nerf it to unusable? I don't understand, I'm not sure ZOS understands. Maybe their ploy is to chase old players away so they can make room for new players in cyrodiil. That is their plan to fix server lag ;)

    If you’re seeing an increase on Strikes with Master at Arms on the current PTS, can you please post a video or screenshot so we can try to figure out what exactly is going on?

    Sorry OP but I don't see how anyone can whine about Templar at the moment.

    I main a magplar and play stamplar (mostly PVP) and templar is the strongest class in the game at the moment imo. It does have some buggy, hit and miss abilities but the class still performs VERY well against others.

    Almost every player in EU BGs at the moment is a Templar.

    What are you guys talking about? Templars are already overpowered on live, and all I see on pts are a bunch of buffs. POTL is ridiculous, and now it's going to crit, too?

    Your class identity is "overtuned ez mode". You should be celebrating!

    And yet, right now, in game, my mag Templar is massively outperforming all my other characters.

    Their DPS is consistently 40k+ rising to ‘oh my god that’s just mental’, he’s stupidly fun to play and I’m enjoying him immensely.

    I like the overall concept of making all spammables, DOTs etc have a consistent power and cost across classes. I don’t want one class to be ‘more powerful’ than any other, I want them each to be unique.

    I’ll play a bit on the PTS and see how the changes affect my gameplay before going all two year-old about it.

    Although I am glad I have those 150k DPS screenshots for the memories - they are ‘so *** broken’
