ESO on ultrawide monitors how is it?

I tried Google, it's not working for me. How is ESO on an ultrawide monitor? I am thinking of getting one for my Xbox since I don't think my PC can run on an ultra wide monitor. This monitor does have HDR 10, so I am hoping that my Xbox One will detect it and I can play at the better settings.

So I am hoping that for people who do have ultra wide monitors can tell me their experience running ESO on it. Does ESO on console or PC accept ultra wide monitors? If so, how does it look Do we get a wider field of view or is it stretched out? If not, then is ESO good on monitor that is curved?

goin UW is the best upgrade you can do to your PC. Go as big as possible and get a top gpu to boot.

Dragonhold - "...updated Activity Finder for dungeons and Battlegrounds, and also focuses heavily on the first part of the performance improvements for ESO..." ^^

Dont know how the resolution works on the Console, but it is increased on the PC. Problem is, the UI maybe stretched , so you have to move the cursor that much farther as you navigate around.

EDIT It seems the UI is not stretched at least on the console

Eso plays fine on ultra wide. Its not stretched as far as I can tell, just a wider field of view. I have a 38" curved IPS UW and it's lovely. Just make sure your GPU can push the extra pixels.

I use a 3440x1440 ultrawide. Works fine in both regular and gamepad mode. UI elements are spread out a bit, but not distorted. Since there's more room and a higher DPI, you can use the options to increase the UI size sightly if it looks too small or hard to read.

I have PC with a curved 3440*1440 monitor and wouldn't change back, no sir no! Its' just so much more immersive. And the wide perspective helps situational awareness in fights, too.

UW is pretty neat, your UI does not stretch out. The game will run at your display's native resolution. (IE: 3440 x 1400) 21:9 aspect ratio.

It's kinda nice because if you utilize an add-on that lets you rearrange your UI a bit, things sorta fit more comfortably, and feel less cluttered. (I hate clutter. Clean your danged room.)

I don't know how xbox works (PFM I'm told) but generally when you start pushing more resolutions, and more Frame Rate G-Sync Hz, etc etc. HDMI ain't enough. So even though this game only utilizes one CPU potato, leaving my other 7 free to run google chrome, pick up a display port cable too.

(If I remember I'll share a screen cap when I get home.)

Sadly from what I have read, my GPU will not be able to handle it. I will try it out for gits and shiggles, but I am hoping the Xbox One X will be able to handle it.

I have a nvidia GTX 960M graphic card. I have a MSI laptop that is 3 years old. At least I know ahead of time it will not really work. So it's for the Xbox playing and movie watching. :)

Nice that they fixed the UI. Starting with Oblivion, the UI would cover the screen no matter that resolution was used. So on wide screens is was steeeeeched out.

Curved and ultrawide. Sadly in my price range, it's one or the other. Curious, what is better, flat ultrawide or regular curved?

I tried an ultrawide but personally didn't care for it. Though that's mostly because I use my current multi-monitor set-up for multitasking rather than as one super-wide display. The ultrawide was too wide for my current space to use with an additional, secondary monitor and wasn't wide enough to comfortably split the screen between game and other applications.

Curved and ultrawide work together very nicely as it helps your eyes see things that are further to the edges. If you're going to be playing on a couch using a console and therefore won't be close as is, it should be fine to not go curved. Smaller screens that are curved are usually utilized as part of a multi-monitor set up and can therefore mimic and ultra-ultra wide by have 2 or 3 curved panels side by side.

I would say you need both. Because it's wider your eye will change its focus when it scans left to right. Curved screens are closer to your eyes as they scan so you don't get as much eye strain as you otherwise would.

I have an ultrawide HDR 10 monitor (Acer 35x). I cannot speak for XBOX, but on PC, there does not seem to be HDR support (LAME AF). It handles the 3440x1440 resolution just fine, however. If you like the 21:9 format (I think its the best for immersion), then no reason you wont like it with ESO.

I have had this monitor for about 3 weeks, coming from an older LG ultrawide. Gysnc Ultimate is an amazing performance upgrade, and the HDR games I have played (Farcry 5 and BL3) look unbelievable. Farcry 5 looks like an actual movie.

I am currently taking a hiatus from ESO. Not sure if/when I will be back, but HDR support for PC would certainly move the needle.

    TL:DR

Sadly beautiful monitor, but Xbox One doesn't support Ultrawide monitors so couldn't even use the features. Hoping a normal size monitor 16:9 will let my Xbox One X use the settings.

An update. Well, the ultrawide monitor for me doesn't work. As I knew my laptop not strong enough to use HDR 10 and what not. Oh well, really bought it for the Xbox One X. Sadly Xbox doesn't support ultrawide. So I couldn't use any of the features since my monitor wanted a setting the Xbox would give me.

So returning the monitor and getting a 16X9 monitor that has HDR and or 4K and hoping that will work with the Xbox One X.

A good note, I was able to finally figure out how to get ESO to play on the Ultrawide monitor. Looked nice. Maybe because it's the "shiny new" I swore it played a bit better. For gits and shiggles, I went Ultra High settings to see what would happen and I could still play ESO with a little bit less lag, than I would on med to high settings. Was it the monitor or just me thinking it got better.

When playing on laptop screen or the old monitor I would get in Vulkhen Guard for some reason I get frame rate on med to high settings of 18-35 fps and as soon I am out of Vulkhen Guard, I have FPS of up to 60 FPS. When using the ultrawide monitor and at ultra high settings I was getting about 35 or a bit more fps. When in Vulkhn Guard I was getting about 20 fps and sometimes even 12 fps. Thing is, I would really notice the lag on the normal monitor and only noticed the lag when it hit 12 fps. For some reason it seemed to play better when the frame rate was in the 20s. Not a clue why a frame rate of 20 on an ultrawide monitor is not as noticable as a 20 fps on a normal monitor.

Almost want to keep this monitor, but since it isn't doing as intended, having nicer graphics on the Xbox, need to try again.

At least this was a great learning experiance.

    yeah xbox no UW unfortunately.

So for a "wide" view, you actually have to scale in both directions, horizontal and vertical.

I currently use a 50'' TV, just an armlength away.
I prefer this to my 27'' monitor, even if you can see the staircase effect, as it has full-HD resolution only (but very good display, was 2500 Euro category). But the size of everything is just stunning.

Pirate ships actually look like ships, not like toy-boats.
You also actually can see the make-up like zephirs lashes, and not just a somewhat blue area in the face like on a small monitor.
And a costume like dark shaman... uhm... stunning ;)

I however would not recommend it in general, for 2 reasons.
1.) I have a cataract, so I got a plastic lens in my eye that has a fixed point of sharp view (the one armlength), and it has 2 dioptrin (short-sighted).

So someone with a normal, perfect view will have a different experience.
I think such setups just will become interesting for more players if you run a console with 4k support and a matching TV.

2.) You also might feel a mix of "wow, everything so big", and "I am confused, where is the action?"
A large screen makes it more difficult to focus on a fight.
I think for PVP and endgame-PVE a smaller monitor (or large one far away) is better, but for people with focus on exploring the openworld content a large and close screen offers far more immersion than a small one.

I have the Samsung C49RG90, ESO looks great on it :)

I get around 50fps with a 1080ti which is ok for an MMO imo, although I am hoping Santa will bring me a 3080 in a few months!
