Perhaps, one i would have serious issue without is combat duration reminder.
It show as an marker on the bar and timer how long an skill have left before timing out. It also track backbar and icon will also show if players or enemies has effect like taunt.
Another is combat metric. trying to improve dps then pretty causal like me without it would be very hard.
    Also stuff like inventory insight.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Depends if they put a decent UI on the base build of the game.

i think add ons take away alot from the game, not all add ons ones that give quality of life to game should be part of the base game, like inventory insight etc, but ones that allow you to see other info or give combat clues, like incoming attacks i think takes away from learning the game, to me i rather learn the mechanics instead of an add on tell me what is about to happen

I would continue playing. As an Xbox player, I do bet trials perfectly fine without addons, and make enough gold too. I can understand the desire for them, but personally, I think they are a crutch to becoming a better player.

Call me old fashion, but I never saw the point of using addons.

I've seen streamers with their screens absolutely FULL of nonsense to the point you can't even see what their character is doing. Some of them look worse than the terrible UI setup from the Borderlands games.

The trader addons reduces FPS and I always see in trial groups where they ask people to turn them off before the trial starts.

Of course I will still play.

Hell no. A lot of them are QOL addons that add basic things in to the game that should have been there from the bloody start. The UI in this game is hella dire lol.

This "MMO" is missing a lot of basic functionality and fundamental core or base game just isn't there. For a TES title more quality is to be expected. This company is too incompetent or just do not care about it.

One thing to bear in mind is not all addons are equal and not all players who use them, or even say they wouldn't play without them, use the ones that hand-hold you through combat.

One I've seen come up a lot is Advanced Filters. "All" that does is add sub categories and filters to the inventory window. It does absolutely nothing in combat but saves a lot of time when at the bank or changing your equipment. And then there's some which actually make the UI smaller or less invasive. For example I use Azurah to move and re-size the default UI so things like notifications aren't gigantic and in the middle of my screen. (I put them just above the chat box where I can see them if I want but they don't get in the way.)

I'm not saying there aren't also addons which add extra information in combat, and some people do use those too, but it's a mistake to assume those are the ones everyone is talking about when considering if they would or wouldn't play without addons.

IMHO the Poll is a bit skewed since console players are voting on a matter that would not affect them.

Your poll results will be skewed due to console players taking part. It would have given you better data if you included a reply "N/A - Console Player", as the addons only pertain to PC players.

Don't mean this in any way to bash the OP...its just not the most accurate results, imo.

Definitely, as I don't use add-ons anymore. I prefer my games vanilla.

I dabbled with add-ons quite a lot back with Morrowind (TES III I mean). Most of them were visual stuff, and in the end the game didn't feel like the Morrowind I had come to love anymore, so I retired all add-ons and reverted to the vanilla version.

With Oblivion, I used three add-ons - one that provided a correct localization (the borked official localization named healing spells 'Fireball', for example, and it didn't stop there), one that removed invisible world borders (not that there had been something to see or do on the other side, but it irked me to run into them headlong all the time), and one that added additional (beautifully skinned) horses, provided by a member of these forums.

But those were the last unofficial add-ons for games I ever used.

True - but this was only a test to understand if Stadia will be a success or not. And with the hypocrisy from this poll and the lack of understanding from console players. New players with the understanding of Add-ons won't transition. And console players lack the competence to want it. ZOS keep console in the dark and keeps PC sidetracked.

My guess is Stadia won't support Add-ons and ZOS won't promote or endorse it. Thus leading to a console playstyle and PC performance. Extremely underwhelming !

And the point on my poll was to cause controversy about add-ons. I read arguments from all sides - different points of views and the most logical comments.

I have my conclusions - and am pleased with my results.

If I'm going to invest my time again I'm going to do my research. And from the way the game is today and the way ZOS treats it's player base still. It's not looking good for Stadia and it's future player base. It was going to be a great way for console players to compete with PC. Looks like that won't happen πŸ‘Œ

It's funny though - people said yes ether are console or PC tryhards that take ESO way too serious or have poor performing Pc's that cannot run a lot of Add-ons due to outdated hardware.

I played the game for 2+ years on console with no add ons. I enjoyed the game just fine. If they were removed, I imagine my enjoyment level wouldn't be that different than my time on console.

In fact when I came to PC, I was blown away by how much add ons were overrated. True, firstly, they help make things EASIER but very few things cannot be done without the use of add ons. Secondly, I stay out of PvP and I am told that PvP gameplay suffers more with the lack of add ons than PvE.

Performance is a far larger issue for me. FFXIV doesn't have this terrible of an issue and they play on console too. WoW & Wow Classic doesn't have performance issue and you cannot have more silly particles flying across my screen than in that game. In fact, the last time I experienced this poor of gameplay was EQ before they relaunched their game with a new engine.

I'm on console, but I feel like alot of add-ons take away from the actual skill involved in playing a game. If an add-on tells you everything to do (heal now, purge, execute, etc...), then are you really playing the game? And do you really deserve the rewards that come with it? The add-ons give alot of trash players the false sense that they're actually skilled...but that's just my opinion. If you ever want to see if you're actually good at the game then come to console, we actually play the game ourselves!

This isn't my first MMO, so based on my experience with other MMO's, and the big lack in basic functionality that I see missing in ESO, I have to say that I would probably not keep playing ESO if they removed all addons from the game. To me the base game is not that pleasant of an experience. Especially when you know that it can be so much better with the use of some quality of life addons.

I have played games in the vanilla flavor without addons, but when I compare one MMO to the next, I expect a minimum functionality in the base game. Without that, I feel that the MMO is behind where they should be for a modern MMO. If some of that functionality can be gained by using addons then I will use the addon if available. I'm not saying that the game isnt playable without them, but you loose the enjoyment of the game play when you have to use other outside resources to keep track of stuff that can be done by an addon.

For example: when Star War's the old Republic came out, I felt that it was around 2 years behind the other MMO's out at the time. It was a nice game, but there was so much functionality missing from it that I saw available in other MMO's at the time.

When looking at the decision, I want to clarify that I am not a PVP player, nor am I doing endgame trials with my fairly new (Less that 6 months play time) account. I have not decided if I want to even try to do endgame trials at this time. After raiding in other MMO's for more than 15 years, I'm not sure that I want to invest that much effort into a game at this point in my life. The performance issues that I keep reading about on the forums is making me think that I do not want to even try the end game in ESO. The addons that I am using at this time for PVE non-end game play I would classify as quality of life addons.

So while I understand the "sense of accomplishment" that some console players may have when compared to PC players, I'm sorry, but that isn't important to me at this point in my life. I play an MMO for entertainment and enjoyment, and not necessarily to compete against other players (As in PVP), or with other players (End Game Trials). I understand the mentality that is calling it "cheating". IMO it's like your riding a bike, Some people have 10 speed's which seems to be OK, and other have motorcycles, and you call riding a motorcycle with turn signals and a speedometer to be cheating.

Personally, I don't understand how console players can play the game as it appears to me to be very painful, and not what I would call fun. But to each their own.

At this point in time, I'm not sure if I will keep playing ESO after I finish the main story lines. I'm really hoping that something else will be available in the MMO space by that time that will hold my interest.

Side note: I also agree that Console players should not be allowed to vote in this PC/MAC related question. I think that if you remove all of the console votes, you will see that the majority of PC responses is No.
