Need help to complete Wearing the Veil race

My husband and I are ready to quit the game because we can’t complete the race despite 30+ attempts. His toon is cp10, mine level 31. We’ve tried potions, horse, stripping down, but we always end up a few seconds short. I don’t understand why they had to make this so difficult. We can’t progress in the zone story until this is done. Any suggestions are welcome.

use a buff food that increases your stamina only for the race and speed potions or the rapid maneuver skill
also you can kill the imps before race

I have to ask the obvious. You are sprinting when you can, aren't you? A steady run will definitely fail.
