Is the next dlc dragonhold free?

Since North Elsweyr map was so small I was expecting South Elsweyr to be free as imo ZoS just split the chapter in two (half chapter + dlc).
Howerver they didn't say a word about this in their preview.
So we have to buy the dlc too ?
From what i saw their is no arena or trial their. So why should i buy it then ?
Because if for some quests that i'll finish in 1 day or maybe too i still don't get why this dlc is better than what we got before.

It's a normal DLC like any other. Your personal opinion of the previous chapter doesn't change ZOS's business plan.

If you have ESO+ you will get access as part of your subscription. There is a small chance they might choose to do a promotion like they did with Murkmire where it was included in the login rewards. Otherwise you will need to buy it.

If you want to complete the quests but don't consider it worth paying for your best option is to buy a 30 day subscription and use that time to complete the new DLC. It's roughly the same price (assuming the DLC is 2,000 crowns and depending on which crown pack you typically buy) but you get the value of the subscription back as crowns, which you can use to buy something else as well.

It’s a small adventure zone like murkmire. Pretty typical of zeni’s release schedule. Dungeon dlc, expansion, dungeon dlc, adventure zone dlc. I don’t know why you’d expect anything for free.

Why would you expect it? It's a B2P game, not F2P.

What we got before, with one exception, have always been paid DLC's. The only time that ZOS ever released a DLC as free right off the bat was Murkmire. And I think that the only paid DLC that they ever changed to free is IC, and that was several years old when they made it free. As they're released separately, I wouldn't presume at all that S.Elsweyr would be free, and if they had any intentions to do so, they'd have announced it by now. Murkmire was advertised as being released as free well before they made it freely available through the daily rewards.

By all means, decline to purchase this DLC based on its content or lack thereof, but they gave no indication that buying N. Elsweyr would also include S. Elsweyr when released at a later time. I've declined to purchase several DLC's myself when the content didn't interest me.

One correction. Murkmire wasn’t free “right off the bat” as you say. It was a DLC available for crowns, cash and sub and a month later was given away as a daily login reward

Problem is it'll be 1st time since game release where they did not include any additional game end content in 4th quater of the year basically leaving people interrested in participating in that part of the game with nothing for next few months around end of the year when many people likes to spend more time in the game.

This is true, but DB released in may of '16 so the guy made a point to specify 4th quarter in the quoted post so that he can gloss over the fact that there is a precedent for zone dlc without anything for endgame. Whiners just want to whine and will find ways to rationalise & justify it.

It will be the same as Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, Orsinium, Clockwork City or Murkmire. If you want permanent access, you have to buy it, or you can access it if you have ESO+.

One Tamriel was released Q4 2016. Dark brotherhood was released on may 31st so it is pretty far from end of the year. And One Tamriel brought lot to the table for people interrested in doing group content. More then any other Q4 update possibly. So my point still stands Dragonhold will be the weakest Q4 update ever when it comes to PvE content.

Even if I wouldnt make a point of 4th quater of the year DB still added to the game something more then just story. New guild skill line , posion making , and option to murder NPCs. That's not much but still more then nothing.

There is no whinig here it's stating the facts. And fact is also that up to this date 4th quater updates were always having some content for people to participate other then story. Dragonhold wont. Simple facts. It looks like only person that whines here is You when You're trying to say that others are whining.

Yes, and the update brings the DLC too. I'm sure the development can't be fragmented to do too many things at once (yes, I know, that content and performance development teams are different, but new content can cause new performance problems too and in ESO it usually does...).

    1. Your second clue that this DLC is not free is Zos did not say it would be free. The first clue would be the number of DLCs that have been free at launch.
    2. You do not have to buy the DLC (or even sub). I really doubt Zos will even notice or really care.

The fact you are even mentioning this in this passive aggressive nature clearly shows you want it and just want to try to stir up some controversy.

Or you can wait and play it during an ESO+ free trial, which happens, what, at least once quarterly? There should be at least one more after the DLC releases before the end of the year.

If you're really this shocked that ZOS could dare to release one DLC which doesn't feature your personal favourite game mode imagine how the people who like open-world questing, or for that matter PvP feel.

Of course you can always take the approach we've had to use for years, when 1/2 of all releases are nothing but dungeon paths and therefore irrelevant if you don't spend most your time in dungeons. It does make it cheaper.

Problem is it'll be 1st time since game release where they did not include any additional game end content in 4th quater of the year basically leaving people interrested in participating in that part of the game with nothing for next few months around end of the year when many people likes to spend more time in the game.

    Dark Brotherhood?

This is true, but DB released in may of '16 so the guy made a point to specify 4th quarter in the quoted post so that he can gloss over the fact that there is a precedent for zone dlc without anything for endgame. Whiners just want to whine and will find ways to rationalise & justify it.

Your whiny response piqued my interest so I decided to look at your profile, specifically your comments. Page after page of negativity and whining.

As to the topic, if you're not happy with the content coming in this update nobody is forcing you to buy/play it.

Murkmire was given for free as a daily login gift. And it was also end - year DLC small questing zone.
But I would not count on ZOS doing the same for Dragonhold DLC.

Anyone who completes even a small zone in a day or two is likely to be rushing through the quests with little regard to them, on a single character, and with little or no interest in anything else in the zone. They will as an automatic consequence of their playstyle get less value from a DLC than someone who takes it at a lesser pace, stays dismounted while exploring the zone (without addons showing them everything) on their own for the first time with no porting to their friends, follows the quest text/voiceover etc as well as getting all the achievements including rare fish etc, and then having done it once sets it aside to be done later with their other characters.

Which is fine for those who enjoy playing that way, except that the complaints always suggest that they aren't actually enjoying playing that way otherwise they wouldn't be complaining about it ;) !

I'm not sure that ZOS already told us about every feature in the update. If they did, there is one more thing you can consider a feature: the performance fixes.

    DB also had those.

Ah so You are unable to judge content of the comment based on what it says but You need to know who said it ? Great reasoning sounds like one of those people in politics that will never support claim of other person before knowing what political group that person represent because if it represent opposite group then he/she is wrong by default.

I am not going to buy it but that doesnt take away my right to express my opinion. You call it whining I call it an opinion based on facts. And belive it or not forums in any game are created also to collect opinions like that because one of the ways developers know how they can improve is knowing what they did wrong. Also I would like if You respond to the content of my previous comment instead of changing the subject simply because You lack arguments.

The thing is: Every endgame pve guild has problems with finding enaugh members, because so many endgame players left the game, because they feel neglegted. Raidbugs are not beeing fixed, performance is bad, endgame content is to little. Sunspire was WAYYY to easy and every endgame guild has triple hardmode already for weeks if not months. Now there it seems like we wont even get an arena. What are we endgameplayers supposed to do until the next chapter in may?
Many of my raidguild members switched to other MMOs since scalebreaker and although I dont plan on changing the game, I will certainly quit my subscription of 2 1/2 years, if there is no endgame pve content in the DLC.
