Input changed to English?

Hello! I’m having an issue with a hacker currently, logging into my discord account, apparently from various countries around the world, then, as I am not great with this sort of stuff on computers, a friend helped me to discover a virus sent to me which possibly is hacking my webcam too which explains why that has been turning on by itself! So I may just be feeling just a tiny bit paranoid right now, and I am planning to reset my pc and hopefully get rid of this virus when I have the time to do so this week, but I logged on to the game to do a dungeon tonight with friends and kept getting this pop up telling me that the language had changed in my game? As I am pretty sure that the person hacking me is somebody from the game, I just wondered if that could be something to do with the hacker? Or is it a known bug? I have never seen this in all of my time playing the game, but am hoping it’s a common bug? It was pretty much spamming at one point in the top right corner of my screen! Am I safe to play the game until I reset my pc? Or should I avoid it until my pc is all clean? It’s going to take me a while to reset so I can’t do it for a few days, but I would rather not have to avoid logging in because of this, if it is something suspicious ofc 😕

Someone took control of your web camera, and you are going to wait till you have time for a reset? Holy crap !!!!!

Turn off your PC and reset every password you have on a clean machine.....Do that now....not after lunch....not after a nap....not after your play time. DO that NOW !!!

I have unplugged my webcam, and headset, and everything else! I literally don't have the time for a couple of days to do a complete reset though! I'm just hoping this person hasn't somehow got into my game and is messing with that too! I changed my password on Discord, and it just got worse, my profile picture was changed, and I was kicked from it for a while. It's very creepy, but if this constant message in the game is a sign of hacking somehow, then I shall avoid the game for the next couple of days too! I am already using my laptop instead of my pc wherever possible.

Agreed, they have remote access to your computer and probably a key-logger installed so they know everything you type, including usernames and passwords for EVERYTHING ...

Unplug your internet modem/router phone line (that way you keep the internal network) and don't turn it back on until you have your computer wiped and reinstalled the OS.

Log into your modem/router and check for any custom routes and port forwarding etc. that shouldn't be there.

If you have multiple computers at home, disconnect them from each other and check each one of them for malware.

Wipe your computer and do a clean OS install while it is offline ...

This is about more then a game. Someone has access to your life. If you had an intruder in your home would you wait a week to deal with it.

I'm really not that computer savvy, which is probably how this happened in the first place! So I have no idea how to check these things in my modem, but I shall take your word and back everything up to reset my pc tomorrow, thank you for the advice

I may even report the person, although I cannot prove it is them so I'm not sure if that would help, but I am pretty certain I know who is doing this, nobody else has been sending me links to open, which according to my friend is probably how this happened.

That used to happen to me all the time. It's a certain combination of keys you press that's a short cut to changing the input language. Hasn't happened to me in a while, but I remember it occuring when gallop-riding forwards while looking at the map.

They probably have more than one language installed and are switching the system language but not the input. The game does accept more than one language and shows that message when I change from English to Japanese, or English to Chinese.

Some people mentioned here , unplug the computer and dont plug it before hard-drive have been formatted and windows has been reinstalled

And Elara, if you back up your machine NOW, and later forget and access that backup, you will have re-enabled the bad stuff. If you don't have a back up prior to this happening, you need to reinstall everything from original media.

Resetting my PC tonight, and hopefully that will be the end of this creepiness

I hope it goes well and that you're back to normal very shortly! Keep in mind to just not open attachments or follow links from emails in future unless you are positive it's harmless (almost impossible - only time I EVER do that is from an email direct from my daughter - neither of us have ever had a virus, worm or malware).

Download malwarebytes, it's free. It will work a bit differently from your anti virus software in that it's specifically for malware, and can work in tandem with your AV. malwarebytes.org

If you press Alt+Shift, it changes the language input from English US to English UK and vice versa. I bet this sometimes when I alt-tab into the game and start running immediately.

Adding, just cuz I'm paranoid as all get-out, I recommend doing a quick Malwarebytes/Windows Defender scan of your system before entering any passwords into any financial institutions and/or places you plan on entering a credit card number. If your computer's decent enough to play ESO, this should only take a minute or two.

On windows, if you press and hold certain keys it will say that. It’s called Sticky Keys and windows thinks it’s a feature.

The issue with waiting is this virus has your ENTIRE pc and ALL info you type.

the language changing is more than likely microsoft IME, activated by pressing alt+shift. it's something i used to do quite a lot by accident, as i'd be sprinting with shift and press alt to open my last menu used. now though, since i have a japanese keyboard installed i've forced myself not to haha.

as for a hacker though, you really shouldn't be using your pc at all until you get that resolved. stop playing eso and get that sorted!
