You can burn me alive, but considerably recent updates made the game better in my opinion when it comes to PvP. Update called "Scalebreaker & Update 23" I believe. I encountered very few "button mushing to win". Now I can actually use my abilities before I die (if I die). Before it was like FPS game, head shots and everything. Now it is more about how you use your abilities, not just shooting everything in the right order every time to win, now I can actually play RPG, where I need to think how I use my stuff and changing ability use for each player depending on who I meet. There are still some issues that I am sure ZOS are aware of, and I hope they will continue this way. So, big thanks to ZOS. Cheers B)

PS: I am not sure if it was update, or me changing my play style so correct me if I am wrong.... But in anyway, flames for this game has been rekindled :)

I am completely serious, call me what you want. I've done my share of playing MMORPG and what we had before here was "FPS mess". I am sorry but I cannot call exploit a skill. How can you call it a skill if your enemy doesn't have a chance to survive after your drop? You just run around mushing the same buttons over and over.... I assume it has been for years, but so is Counter Strike's wall hack. I like one shooting people yes, but it shouldn't be so in MMORPG game, I don't play these types of games for that...

Ah yes, balancing your offense and defence through pressuring your opponents and mitigating damage where necessary, all the while keeping track of your resources and carefully watching for the opportune window to time a series of abilities so they can hit together to maximise damage is 'button mashing' and 'exploiting'.

Meanwhile, casting 3 DoTs and AFKing is 'skillful gameplay'.

Huh... all makes sense if you think about it...

2 DOTs. Lol. And I’m a MagDk that’s used Structured Entropy for years. That craps a bit overtuned when you can Ele Drain, Structured Entropy, light attack (for empower and just to weave), and Resto heavy attack and you just roasted a tater lol. Overtuned. And that’s at RANGE.

Heaven help the poor fool if he gets close enough for me to slap embers on him.

If I slotted engulfing and soul trap too it’d be mammoth cheese 🧀 for real lol 😂.

Yeah I agree. The Scalebreaker update was a step in the right direction for PvP and I haven't had a single cheese death in battlegrounds since the changes were implemented. You can actually fight back now and it's not just a stupid race to see who can use their combo of mass destruction first.

It hasn't fixed the problem of zergs wiping the floor with you of course. But when it comes to smaller scale PvP match ups where the odds are more even - I've seen a significant improvement on the quality of the combat. I made a few threads praising them for their work too.

They made a number of excellent changes to PvE as well - such as reducing the cost of Inner Fire and (while this could allude to PvP too) increasing the power of rapid regeneration. So they've made PvE more enjoyable for me also. So you aren't the only one liking this new development team.

I actually don't mind being wiped out by zerg, it isn't fun if you are able to survive everything. I think it makes sense when zerg takes you out in seconds. You are after all just one guy against five people. I mean you are Bruce Lee and all, and you can take out more then one opponent at once, but other gamers have been blessed being a Bruce Lee also, so it's five Bruce Lees against one Bruce lee. I hope you understand what I mean :D

I totally agree with you. It’s not perfect but I like it better as well. I have been playing for sense beta and I love this new DoT/Purge feel. It has taken me a while to get than hang of it, I have changed my main but I really do love this PvP is more enjoyable now less FPS game play.

As a smallscaler i can just share it is tougher nowaydays against zergs.

Im used to have it rough but it feels like wins have less do do with skill than numbers

We used to have to balance offence defense regen maintain pressure and find the right timing to burst

Now people apply dots and stay in the back

Unlucky for you, they've already confirmed they are reverting most of these changes next patch. :p DoTs are getting nerfed across the board, and battle spirit in PvP will make it so you can't stack DoTs anymore, effectively making them obsolete.

    5 people? In my experience it's more like 20+. lol ; ;

I think I know what you mean. But ultimately, I disagree with your take on it. I believe zerg combat represents a flaw in the game's PvP system and something they ought to work on mitigating. A game's goal should be to make it fun to play. And there is just nothing fun about being steamrolled by superior numbers - which sadly is all too often what this game's PvP devolves into. I don't mind losing. But I do want to have a little fun at least before I do. That's not an unreasonable request.

But I do believe battlegrounds are in the best shape they've been in for months (maybe years). Small scale PvP has improved quite a bit due to these changes. But the large scale zergfests are still just as lame as ever.

Are you sure the OP would mind this?

The reasoning for his support of the update is due to reductions to PvP damage bursts which allows him to actually play his character before he dies (that's why I liked the update as well). So it seems to me further nerfs to damage would likely only increase his support for the changes. I know it would mine. So if the developers want to keep reducing the damage on this game's PvP they have my blessing.

I don't think any of us liked this update because of the shift to DoT damage. We liked it because of the reductions to damage bursts which allows us to actually fight back instead of just dying instantly to combos mixed in with ultimate dumps. I can take or leave the emphasis on DoT damage. So I doubt many Scalebreaker supporters would particularly care one way or another about that. In fact: preventing multiple players from being able to stack the same DoT on a single player sounds like a great idea to me.

Anything that scales back the effectiveness of combining multiple sources of damage on a single target is going to be a big help to this game's PvP system - because that's when it starts to fall apart.

If this is going to work like that in pve that will absolutely not work.I can't recall which skill or class specifically, but I know three was at least one instance where that prevented multiple of the same class from using the ability in their roation on the same boss.

You like this update and ultimate cast time, simply because it doesn't affect your playstyle. You have shown a very clear bias for ranged magicka builds, which never had a burst ultimate to begin with apart from magblade, which requires melee. On the other hand, in your multiple posts and comments, you clearly dislike melee stamina builds, which are mainly the builds using burst ultimates and hence the ones affected by the cast time essentially shifting the meta to ranged builds. This is exactly why you like this patch, pewpewing at the safety of range.

Just wait till most stamina users realize the strength of ranged stamina builds and the one ultimate in the game with the highest tooltip and no cast time.

I think the OP is right. The game was a lot more broken in the past. They change many important things that were making the people play the same meta.

I believe that now with every change now something new appears, but the thing is learn from it and make the corresponding changes.

I think they should keep working and making these changes because they are going in a better direction.

Do you have a reliable source for that "news"?

That would be an unbelievably idiotic change, which would effectively punish everyone for being a team player.

It is already the case that named buffs and debuffs do not stack, for obvious reasons.
But AFAIK, all sources of damage in the game do stack, so why should DoTs be an exception?

The only good thing(s) ESO PvP had going for it was the fluid combat and the mindgames which came along with predicting your opponents burst attempts and ultimates, but now thats gone as well, gotta put 3 second delays (1s + cyrodiil bonus) on every ultimate / burst ability so even a 80 year old granny can react in time.
Not a single good player I know likes the introduction of cast times and getting rotted down by zerglings spamming undodgeable dots (JUST SLOT PURGE ROFL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣) on you, idk how you would think that this is genuinely a good patch, maybe because trash players can also kill something now.
Lag and random game crashes are always as bad as it gets, low hopes for the "performance patches", because at the end of the day its still ZOS running/ruining this game.

Unlucky for you, they've already confirmed they are reverting most of these changes next patch. :p DoTs are getting nerfed across the board, and battle spirit in PvP will make it so you can't stack DoTs anymore, effectively making them obsolete.

Just some advice - but you should probably refrain from talking about people you literally know nothing about. Because I don't even play a ranged magicka build - nor do I have a bias toward them - nor do I dislike melee stamina builds....

So do you just enjoy making stuff up about other players? Because this comment is just bizarre to me. The last thing I do is "pewpew" from "the safety of range". lol...

So in the future, I would try to prevent yourself from describing other posters you clearly are not familiar with.
