Taunt QoL improvement for taunting

When tanking, I always end up chasing a mob I tought it was taunted, but turns out a mob around took the pierce armor hit for him, the only way to prevent this is to use tab target, but cycling between targets before taunting is annoying.

What if we make ransack/pierce armor something like this:
  1. Make it a cone, but only taunt 1 enemy inside
  2. prioritize the one with out taunt
  3. if there are more than 1 with out aggro, select the one with highest offensive stats
  4. if tab target is active, give priority to the targetted enemy

- OR -
  1. Make the cone very very small but taunt all enemies inside the cone

- OR -
  1. Make frost wall of elements taunt enemies inside the area

Same with bash, if there are multiple enemies stacked in front of you and you bash, prioritize a mob if it is casting something

What if we make ransack/pierce armor something like this:
    1. Make it a cone, but only taunt 1 enemy inside won't fix your problem, because many enemies around, and u need to taunt a specific one
    2. prioritize the one with out taunt thats plain silly. And will f*** everyone up in a lot of dlc fights
    3. if there are more than 1 with out aggro, select the one with highest offensive stats content that is run with two tanks exist, therefore, no
    4. if tab target is active, give priority to the targetted enemy wait... Doesn't it work like that already? Not sure, but if it doesn't, it should

    - OR -
    1. Make the cone very very small but taunt all enemies inside the cone said it once will say it again, eso doesn't need mass taunt

    - OR -
    1. Make frost wall of elements taunt enemies inside the areasee previous comment, also, frost wardens exist

Edit: also i find jumping helping me with targeting, makes it easier to hit the mob i want

Im aware of those problems, however you are looking at the list in a wrong way, im not saying "Choose one"... try putting all of these together at the same time, and watch all the problems you described dissapear

What r u even talking about... It sounds like u created tons of problems, then said "and then lets make tab targeting work so people can do that". Good luck doing it on console.

I just don’t get why there is so much push back against some when a multi target taunt is asked for...

It would save resources and time is it lazy? Ok maybe? But it would also be highly beneficial

I actually really like that there isn't an AOE taunt. It very much changes the feel of tanking in this game and makes it require a bit more skill. Pass. The day there is an aoe taunt in this game is the day I stop tanking completely.

I would very much to have a better talons equivalent on my non-dk tanks though. There needs to be a better option for other classes. RIP time stop....

Agree with taunting all in a small cone.

As far as bash/interrupt, it should bash interrupt all in front of you within melee range who are winding up a cast. Honestly, how many will that be? Normally one and much better than bashing into a group of 3 or 4 hoping to catch the one trying to cast.
PC NA(no Steam), PvE, mostly solo

ZOS specifically designed ESO dunfeons to work without an AOE taunt. Fights are designed so that the tank cannot taunt everything, and thus DDs and healers are expected to be able to handle some mob aggro.

Its one of the differences between ESO and other games that tanks focus on taunting the boss and priority adds, and then crowd controlling the rest.

Changing that by adding an AOE taunt would make group content much easier. The tank taunts, holds block, and the healer heals the tank while the DDs kill everything with little to no risk. ZOS would have to redesign most of the fights to pose a greater challenge, eapecially in base game content.

So if you like the current style of tanking, ESO is great.

If you prefer the style from other games where the tank holds all the aggro with AOE taunts...well, ZOS didnt want that style of game.

Usually the only issue with taunting or taunting incorrect things are busted hit boxes that over extend the body of the monster (looking at you Olms).

No offense but experience plays a big role in developing the skill in both making sure the taunt hits the correct target and how to handle each group of mobs so you are not chasing them around.

I am not trying to come off as condescending but just noting we all start off trying to figure out how to approach mobs and fights. The game was designed with the idea that we only had a single target taunt and that the tank is not intended to tank every trash mob in a dungeon.

I would generally agree with this. The paradigm of a tank is a little different in ESO compared to other MMOs as it's only the responsibility of the tank to handle the strongest enimes (the ones that will kill the group for sure). Everything else is luxury and not fully their responsibility but what separates really good tanks from sufficient tanks is the ability to go beyond and manage entire encounters. If a tank is failing to control the target that kills players such as a main boss that is an issue of lacking knowledge, priority, or position. If the issue is that they are losing taunt of a priority target trying to control the whole mob that is a mistake on the tank/ group as that is not the most important thing to do.

AOE taunts have been proposed and shot down numerous times in the forums.

There’s nothing special that distinguishes this thread from its predecessors ...
