Still Nothing?

So I played at launch. Bought all the bells & whistles, enjoyed the game. Leveled a couple of 50s through cadwell gold and stopped playing for a few years. When I came back, I was happy for the most part, but I was surprised that with all the updates to other areas of the game, quality of life fixes I would've thought would be in by now, are still not. For example:

- Why is the quest log still limited to 25 quests? Half the log is filled with nothing but guild quests since there are so many guilds & dlcs now. Makes rolling a new character a colossal pain in the arse. Why isn't this a ESO+ benefit? like putting the log to 50 quests. I don't even know why there is a limit tbh, seems super silly to me.

- Mail system, W T F lol. Why is this still so terrible? In 5 years you all haven't figured out how to make this better?

- Why do we need to waste our time leveling mounts on every character? Like I've already leveled 2 mounts to all 60's, think it's bunk we need to level a whole new mount every time we roll a alt. This should be account wide. Period. Barring that, why can't I just PAY to level it to 60 in one go? Like I paid not to have to level the mage guild again. However, $60 to max out a mount is beyond outrageous. It's criminal. This should be at the very most 20 bucks. I could see paying 60 MAYBE if it was an account wide unlock, but 60 bucks per alt, per mount? GTFOH lol.

- Why haven't the devs incorporated more of the popular addons into the base game by now? You've had years to do this. This just seems super lazy.

- Why does a triple A MMO require poorly built 3rd party tools / websites to even make trying to trade with the rest of the population bearable? (ie: TTC filled with mostly dead items for example)

- Lastly, the whole 5 guild thing at a time, 5 years later, still seems like a terrible idea. I can't count the number of 400+ member guilds I joined that were completely dead. Nothing but trade bots. Zero social aspect at all regardless of what they labeled themselves as (hardcore / casual / pve / pvp / trade / social /etc). What is the point in having guilds if no one uses them for anything but trading stalls? kinda defeats the entire reason to have a guild in MMOs in the first place IMO.

Only been back a week, I'm sure I'll find more annoying stuff as I play through the rest of the new content lol. I am enjoying the game, I even picked up a collectors Elswyr to update my account. Just sad to see a game with so much money behind it, after so many years still missing such basic things imo. Makes it seem like the staff only care about selling DLC and gambling crates and don't really care about the people they are bilking for money.

//pointless rant, but I feel better, so ^.^

P.s. thought of something else just as I hit save lol ... Daily Rewards. 100k one month, to 1k the next month? what the bleep is this nonsense? lol. 100k, ok, I can see that. I mean people are selling stuff for millions of gold these days, but 100k is decent. 1k though? that's so useless, it's like a slap in the face lol. Same goes with the vast majority of the rest of the daily rewards. These are supposed to incentivize people to log in and play your game. Who do you think 1k gold is incentivizing? No one. That's who.

Same goes for the food, the drinks, the weapon poison, elixirs and potions. All of these are in such tiny quantities and so easily acquired in game, that having them as a daily reward is a total joke.

Xp scrolls, and instant crafting research are at least useful.

I don't know who is in charge of setting up the daily rewards, but they must really hate us to think these are worth logging in every day for.

Agree on the daily rewards. I am destroying half of them to save bank space.

Some true things, the mail system is poorly built. I could do with a less limited quest log because it’s a TES game and quests are out of control most of the time XD. The mount system should be more universal, if I didn’t log in for daily Writs I never would have bothered because loading screens alone made up for half of not most of the time. But the good thing is they are actually slowly renovating some painful systems. Obviously the more impactful ones are at the forefront tho.

Agree on the Daily Rewards. A lot of that stuff is useless. Does anyone even use the drinks even on a low level character?

We have to level all character´s mounting skill so they can sell their damm crown lessons. It is, as op says, criminal, in the scummy, cash-grabing way.

    Welcome back!

Remember that you can break down most of the unwanted daily rewards for gems to use in the Crown store. Do this regularly and you can afford some decent stuff occasionally. Personally the only ones I keep now are crown tri stat food and mimic stones for outfiting.

The 25 quest limit has become a joke as the game has expanded. At the very least this should double with an ESO account.

Console players don't have ANY add ons... so, shh about that, lol.

It can be tough to find a good guild. Just keep looking. There are good, active, well organised guilds out there.

    I agree.

Now that you feel better.. did you ever think about how this is probably the game they want to offer ?

It was Blizzard who said. Give the customers what they want. No matter what, give it to them.

That made Blizzard a lot of money. However, this mindset is not an industrial standard. It just is, or was, the Blizz inhouse paradigm among other paradigms. None of those are industrial standards. Revenue is not always an indicator of quality.

I was never a big fan of WoW. But i suffered through a few other MMO who copied WoW. Get rid of those paradigms. Buy a gamepad and play first person and you will find one of the best MMO within a decade or maybe two. It belongs in the Hall of Fame with EQ2 vanilla and UO.

I've been playing online games since they were text based just as a frame of reference.. MUDs/UCKS/USHS/ etc. Even built them for years. I've played almost every western MMO (and a lot of the asian ones), starting with Meridian 59 and working my up through the years. I'm extremely well versed in exactly how dev teams operate and yes, you're probably correct, there is probably some bean counter somewhere that while pushing his glasses up is trying to explain with a riveting powerpoint presentation exactly why the game needs to be like this, and quite frankly they're wrong.

Every online game benefits from input from their communities. If they didn't, no one would ever bother paying for a forum, or test servers, or anything else really.

This game had quite a rocky start, but are making up with it using the Everquest approach (bury people in DLC content). However, what good is content that no one wants to log in and play? and if no one wants to play "the devs vision" then what is the point? I mean, the investors point is to get butts in seats and their hands in our wallets and doing that is vastly more difficult when delivering a subpar product.

I see people talk about quality of life updates as meaningless features to be relegated constantly to the back burner. Ask any girl why they broke up with their partner and I bet you dollars to donuts, the vast majority are going to say it wasn't any one big thing, it was probably a lot of little things that added up to a big problem. Death by a thousand cuts if you will. This is exactly the problem this game has.

It doesn't have any really major glaring issues, but it definitely has more than enough little poop to drive you nuts and not make you want to play the game.

I don't even talk about that other MMO. BLEEP that game.

Lastly, there is no reason I would ever use a gamepad to play a PC game hehe, barring fighting games. Playing in first person for immersions sake I am guessing, isn't going to solve any issues at all. I'm not an ostrich hehe.

As for this game being the best in a decade or so, honestly, the bar is super low. The MMO which shall not be named, basically killed the brain of every dev for a solid decade trying to cash in with copycats. So there has been very little competition & innovation in the MMO genre, even so, I would say Secret World easily has the best quests of any MMO in that time frame. TESO has a long long way to go before they can match that level of quality imo.

Really it's only been the last few years we've started to see devs pull their heads out of their arses and start to make some decent games again, but even then, it's going to be another 2-3 years before we see any quality triple A titles again as everything is in development so, why shouldn't the devs try to make the best game they can currently, to solidify as much of the player base as possible, while there is less competition?

Seems like common sense to me.

On a side note, was pleasantly surprised to see so many people agree with me. I was just venting to the staff in the hopes they'd actually fix some of this, but it's always nice to have some validation hehe.

    Hugs.

good piece, but I'm not understanding the 10 bucks per point under buying the mages guild skills. Thought the 3000 credits bought the maxed skill line. If its referring to 1000 for the riding stuff (speed/stamina/inventory), its not 1000 per point. It's 1000 for 10 points (books).

ah ok, that is my misunderstanding then. I thought it was 1000 per point x 60 points = 600 dollars lol. I mean, it's still 60 dollars to max a mount, which I think is beyond ridiculous personally, but I mean, I did spend 30 dollars worth of points to skip picking up books for the 3rd time so who am I to judge hehe.

I edited the main post to reflect this new information ^.^
