I have noticed something that annoyes me and I am sure many other people, when doing stuff with random groups. After dungeon or raid I am being polite and say thanks for the run. Some people answer "np", "you'r welcome" or such. I don't say thanks because you most likely did not help me especially in it, I say it because of common courtesy. Naturally if someone actually helps me doing something, I will thank personally those people.

Let me get this straight - you're getting miffed because people don't reply the way you want? That's so precious Most people these days don't talk in chat at all, let alone thank you back after a run.

Oof. Just write "Thank you for the group, thank me for the carry" next time and see if it works out for you. And please post some screenshots of the chat.

When someone says thanks to you, it's surely common courtesy to respond "no problem", "anytime", "you're welcome" and so on.. what are you on about?

So we can gauge acceptable answers, how do you respond when you've not really helped the people you're with?

Actually it is better when you ask if everybody is "ready to leave" as then those that have a quest to deliver have a chance to let group know that.

I mean. Its a group effort. And I am not thanking anyone in sense what thank you in real life means. (might be I am but then I say like "Thanks for helping me get this monster set").

It just gives impresison of the NP guy that he thinks hes all that and I thanked him for his magnificent company.
(EDIT: or NP gal)

What i always do is tyfg - leave group

I do not wait for the response of the group, no matter if they respond or not.

Yeah, this is typically when I respond back is when someone else responds first. On console, not everyone has access to a nice usb/wireless keyboard like I do. So not hearing or seeing text responses are normal and perfectly acceptable.

When I did Blackheart last night. We all said GGs except the healer, who i noticed using a 'Thumbs Up' emote. Was a first for me to see someone using an emote!

You did thank him for his company but I have to say, you're the one that stinks of a god complex, I can't smell that guy.

As a console player, I rarely say anything that can't be selected from the emotes menu. Sometimes I'll say thanks, sometimes others will thank the group, sometimes no one says anything and we just go our separate ways.

I'd recommend playing the game the way you want to and not begrudging others for playing it their way.

Better etiquette would be to know the mechs and quit trying to be carried. If those haven't done a dungeon or trial before, take a little time to watch the many guide videos via youtube and come in being familiar. With all so many guide videos (thanks in part to all them ESO gurus), there is no reason for anyone to come in a group, or even pug, not knowing mechs for any dlc dungeons and trials on normal or vet. It will keep the group from wiping over and over again. Thank you and np..

Then i leave the group and go about my business

I never say thanks for the group, so I don't see this. Instead I say things like: Well done everyone, Good job and similar terms. Then I say goodbye, maybe wish people a nice day if it was an extra pleasant run. But then I'm one of those people who also say hi at the start and is open for some chatting while I'm dungeoning.

Unfortunately, this is the same person that proposed balancing the game by removing all console players.

I think I'd actually prefer to believe this is just a devotion to trolling as I cannot reconcile myself whatsoever with OPs perspective.

I say thank you at the end of a group because they HAVE helped me - by participating in group content. Even if it was something I could solo we'll have done it quicker together and we've completed the content together.

Your complaint is that you feel patronised if they respond 'no problem'? Any polite response is perfectly reasonable and perhaps you misunderstand the context of their reply. When the default is '... has left the group', 'np' seems almost gushing.

The more I read this the more I think it's actually your attitude to others and your manners that are in question here.

Most of the time I might be the highest CP char in the group but that doesn't mean I'll be melting mods etc, hell the CP 100 could be the best player in the group but I'll always say thanks when we finish

OP, I get what you are saying but agree with many here who think you are being too sensitive. If I say thanks after a run and get replies like NP or you're welcome, I accept that as a reasonable courteous acknowledgement of my comment and have no problem with it. That said, I do understand what you are saying. When my CP1200 elf is soloing a WB and a newb joins her and 'helps' get the kill, they often say 'thanks!'. In that case, they really are thanking me for something they likely could not do without help and it makes me feel good that they appreciate the help. Even so, I do feel a bit. . . presumptive saying NP or you're welcome and usually reply under those circumstances with 'Nice job!' or perhaps just a ':)' or sometimes even just blowing a kiss.
