This one thinks they should stop with making houses available for a limited amount of time. What's your opinion on this? Do you agree or disagree?

They are running a virtual store, so inventory room isn't an issue. It's not like they need to keep packages in a warehouse.

ALL houses should be available at all time. But of course it's not gonna happen, because every "time limited" item is a way to force people's hands, to make them buy more crowns right away instead of capitalising on their monthly sub to buy later. It's a sly and disgusting way to increase their income at our expense, but it works. I KNOW it's a trick, but I fell to it willingly anyway with Frostvault or the Aldmeri Grotto.

I would have bought them anyway if they had been available at all time, but later, with enough accumulated crowns. Not that I accumulate much these days, seeing my sub is now canceled, but you get the idea.

Nothing should be time limited. The reason I dont buy crowns at all is because all the things I could be interested in buying are no longer offered.

They're not going to change the nature of "limited time" seasonal digital items even if it doesn't run out. It's an easy and proven effective marketing tactic and preys on FOMO (fear of missing out) so the consumer will be promoted to act now. Rather than procrastinate buying or thinking about it some more, they are called to act and buy now. It's the same concept behind flash sales where you find deals that that will end soon. It also gives variety I suppose. It's meant to maximize profits just as crown crates are also there and with limited time to buy before the next season of lootboxes.

As far as I am concerned everything that the crown store ever sells should be up in the store all year round.

Get rid of the loot boxes and gems, just add all those items to the normal store for crowns permanently.

Let customers pick and choose what they want to buy when they are ready to buy them, RNG and time limited stuff should never be part of a cash shop.

If they want to do time limited stuff, they should just do discounts not have the item vanish from the store.

They should stop because it would be better for players.

They won't stop because it actually makes them more money - some people who are undecided are likely to go ahead and buy them because if they don't they might regret it later, whereas if they were always available they could give themselves more time to think about it and talk themselves out of it, or might just go on thinking maybe they'll get it one day and never make a decision. Also people who want to buy it are more likely to spend additional money to do it because it's harder to save up discounted or ESO+ crowns to get them. (And I don't think you can gift houses so gold bought crowns isn't an option.)

Believe it or not this is a fairly common sales tactic. Pop-up shops for example are entirely based on this business model - buy it now because it won't be available next week. Pre-order/limited edition bonuses, merchandise sold only at special events and clearance sales are other examples (although clearance sales have the additional justification that they need the space to sell other things it does still have the same effect).

The sleazy and unethical monetization is half the reason (other being performance) I don't spend money in this game beyound buy2play. If they suddenly started being reasonable and nice with their offerings I might spend some money or even sub and then the game would not be so cheap to play for me any more. I hope they keep crown store as disgusting it is.

Funny how people who reply "they shouldn't stop" actually explain in their posts why they WON'T stop, but also how they feel they SHOULD STOP :)

Nothing is truly limited. Wait until you have the crowns/gems then you can put in a ticket to buy crown store items. I've bought costumes, pets and even a house (Hunter's Glade) that way.

They should also stop making all of them crown exclusive. We need more houses that is also available for gold.

Pretty sure this is not the first poll on the subject or question. However, there is another poll Zos looks at to decide if these limited time offers are successful or not and it seems the number of crown packs they sell at full price so people can buy these limited time homes has been working well for them.

... the one and only reason they do this is to psychologically manipulate people into making impulse purchases. This game is replete with unethical microtransactions, and "limited time offerings" is an example of a technique used by unethical microtransactions.

So, while I can understand not *featuring* every large home all the time, purchasing them (say from the preview) should be available.

Then you can feature the home, maybe at a reduced price, during the respective festivals... like Pariah's was for Orsinium Fest.

Yes but in between these limited time pressure sales occurrences they're missing out on sales. Personally, because of this strategy I never buy because the prices are so high that I need to save up crowns (these homes are never available to purchase with gold). I don't feel like they have enough data in the online virtual market to support this theory. It's too different from the real world comparison you're offering.

Not only that, the reasoning that they will probably never change is not good rationale for your vote. Seems to me that the intention of this poll is to identify the desire for this change to happen.

I feel like they should offer these homes always due to the high prices. Simply put, people need the opportunity to save up instead of having to run out and buy crowns at extra expense.

i say no because it makes the house rarer; that way, if you actually get your hands on it, you will feel luckier and you'll value it more.

Big ticket items on limited time sales are there because due to their appeal, if constantly available, they would cannibalize the other crown store items sales.

This means people would try to save their crowns for the appealing big purchase item instead of gradually using them on the other items available. This tactic also drives the "don't want to miss out" urge on the customer, which makes them more likely to cough up the funds now instead of later, and then later again as well.

Remember supply and demand. The higher the demand and the lesser the supply, the more valuable an item becomes.

Is it nice? No. Is it a valid and smart sales practice? Yes.

We can be sour about it all we want, but it's nothing new in the world of sales.

I am for having homes available all the time personally. I will say that I do like in some ways how the time limited nature keeps it interesting and feels fresh when something new is added or brought back.
