ZOS is the best tank class. They tank all our complains and aggro every bug they can. :D

Dragonknight. Because they are really tanky, can sustain better, their kit allows you to do mistake and return from it and they bring so much utility.

Whatever you are used to and most comfortable with. It doesn’t really matter if someone else things “such and such is best” if that play style doesn’t work for you. It won’t be best for you. Try everything, and go with what you like best and gets you through what you want to do content-wise. My go-to tank is my artificer (a stamina templar) even though others may say that is harder to do (and it probably is). I like the character, and I like confusing damage dealers by throwing resources at them... haha.

I have tanks of every class.

My main battle tank is a Templar. I have completed all content types (except dueling) with it. For me it's the most fun.

I believe DK is easier, especially when learning how to tank in ESO. It has a very good toolkit.

I have not fully leveled my Tankcro but it does not seem to be as fun for me as my Tankplar. It does bring some interesting benefits.

The Warden has a very good toolkit for an offtank but is less fun (for me) than Templar and is not as robust as DK.

Sorc and nightblade used to be more fun but took nerfs to the skills that made them unique. They now play about the same and are very generic in playstyle.

For me, DK comes first and then Sorc. DK can be very versatile and adaptive while being very sturdy, allowing more room for error. Sorc is very self-sufficient, resilient, and fun to play but somewhat selfish. Warden and Templar tanking never clicked with me -- they both felt odd and lacking.

This, Very much so. They have a great toolkit.

I am impressed. Not many Templar tanks skilled enough to clear all the vet trials. Have you cleared any post craglorn trials on HM?

Any, maybe with the exception of NBs. But I might just be bad with NBs.

Don't be impressed. I'm not especially skilled. I completed the content but some took many tries to get completes.

I would have to look to see how many HM clears I have, it's not many and most of those are on my Redguard DK.

I have not tanked in a serious manner in more than a year. I have off tanked vCR, with that Templar, but it was just a regular run. I have yet to step foot into Sunspire, even on normal.

    DK because of chains. IMO.

IMO, here's the ranks, based SOLELY ON CLASS SKILLS AND PASSIVES:

    1. DK--still king, super tanky, best root (talons) and pull (magicka chains). Igneous shield makes stam sustain a breeze.
    2. Warden--great offtank and fine main tank, strong buffs, slightly weaker CC (frozen gate is clunky af, gripping shards is unreliable).
3-4. Nightblade and Necro--I'm honestly not sure which I'd rank higher, but they're close. Necro has better CC kit, Nightblade has better buffs. Might lean toward NB since I HATE the necro pull and root abilities, and I find NB tanking more fun.
    5. Sorcerer--Janky but fun, good CC, decent sustain, but missing some tools and inherent tankiness.
    6. Templar--Bottom of the pack (in my experience alone) because of terribad CC, weak heals, and a pretty terrible defensive buff (rune) if you have to move at all (that said, I typically use balance for major resolve, so not a huge deal that rune is bad for any kind of mobile fight).

Silver leash is just so clunky that DK will always be my preferred tank (at least until they invent a non-class specific pull that doesn't blow).

Necro has armor that pulls mobs to you.

No shields and ult, giving back resources.
