handling of the ongoing guild trader bids chaos is a test of ZOS credibility for me

To make it short:
1) I am specially unhappy with all that happened yesterday evening (in EU time) because I was recently scammed by a fellow player who took about 600 000 gold of my hard earned gold. ZOS has declined my wish to refund this gold. But hey, let's call it bad judgement on my part and that i needed to learn a lesson. Awesome backdrop though...

2) but then... suddenly ZOS accidently gifts an unknown amount of guild traders sums of several million to several billion gold... Well, one can always say accidents happen and lets wait for ZOS to fix their mistake. Fixing the mistake is obviously needed because not doing it would render playing ESO a complete waist of time. Why would I continue playing ESO and actually work for rewards (like gold) if I could just as well "be given 1000 000 000 gold +" by a mistake that wont be fixed???

3) I will be very unhappy if you, ZOS, decide to act as if nothing has happened. Giving random players a huge fortune and ruining trading for everyone else won't go unnoticed. The mistake itself is bad enough but acting as if nothing has happened... people, please... that's just not constructive...

    I am guessing they see nothing wrong with wrecking an economy. They apparently have been taking cues from the guy in DC.

    Yeah it's gonna be bad for the in game economy like you said. So incompetent, but I also don't think they will do a rollback because of the amount of time that's passed. Maybe they'll find a way to get the gold back? I don't know how when people have already traded and moved the gold around. But I'm thinking it's too much effort so they're just gonna leave it be like the free necromancer class last patch, they've made it clear that exploiting is fine as long as people do it before ZOS hotfixes it.

    To the extent of my knowledge:

    - ZOS never deleted duplicated items and the gold earned through them when item duping exploits were widely available at launch;
    - ZOS never removed or limited the use of the forward camps some EU guilds/players stockpiled after it was known that ZOS was going to remove them (at the time NA maintenance was earlier than EU and the patch notes tipped off some people to the upcoming change, giving them access to something noone else was able to obtain after the servers came up);
    - ZOS allows the gifting of Clown Store items and, by implication, gold-for-Clowns trading, but doesn't employ any secure channels to do it and has never refunded a scammed player's gold [EDIT]apparently some players have received refunds after being scammed by Clown sellers[/EDIT];
    - At a time when Cheat Engine use was particularly prevalent and flagrant, with players spamming multiple ultimates one after the other in Cyrodiil, trials and Maelstrom Arena, ZOS first banned, then unbanned offending players.
    - Other examples abound.

    Good luck trying to get a just or fair handling of the situation. ZOS just needs to keep the storefront open for Clown sales. That requires the barest minimum of investment.

    As a whole I think ZOS does a great job on this game but in this area (and bots I would add) this is rapidly becomming a real liability of epic proportions. Best to roll back sooner than later.

    Allowing this to continue actually does cuase me to wonder about their credibility or competence to manage a real problem and this is a real problem.

    To be fair to the daemonios, I think ZoS has scaled that policy back. I have two guildies who were recently scammed and received 'tough luck, buyer beware' answers from Customer Service. I don't know if they were first-time victims; perhaps they had made previous claims and are now on the 'tough luck' list.

    People were already abusing the system by inflating certain items required for endgame pvp and pve. Now this will hit harder on casual players than hardcore players. Cuz most endgame players are rich already. Prices are already inflated beyond average and will continue to do so. This is just stupid at this point. ZoS needs to do something about this or EU economy will suck donkeys balls.

    Hence "time when Cheat Engine use was particularly prevalent". There were a few days back in 2016 when players recorded themselves and others using it to make actual meteor showers to draw attention to the rampant abuse. I have no doubt it's still being used. As recently as earlier this year someone was posting vids on YouTube advertising invulnerability/flying cheats, and you could see them do it in-game.

    What credibility? Go back all those years and look at how the game launched and it’s still a buggy mess full of lag now. Crown store functions just fine though...

    "I work for a company that does X, Y, and Z! Failure is not an option! Grr, ZOS sucks!"

    Yeah...ZOS is a company that wrote ESO's code, then got rid of most if not all of the original programmers, and on top of that has been steadily rewriting huge portions of the game since launch due to poor reception. On top of their server load issues, they've got spaghetti code piled on top of legacy code. Every update, its not a matter of if something breaks. Its a matter of what, how bad, and how hard is the fix even if their employees do their best.

    Unless that changes with the planned performance changes, ESO is going to continue to have issues with its code. Server load is only part of the issue.

    If you actually work in that type of a computer programming environment...I'm sorry. That sounds terrible.
