Cast times on Ultimates

..are simply horrible. Why do you want to slow down combat ZOS? Most people are playing ESO for the awesome fluid (disregard lag for a second) PvE and PvP fights. If I wanted to play slow round based games I'd have moved to Tera or Rome: Total War.

"Adjusted the animations and cast times for many Ultimates that are meant to have high impact to better synchronize their attacks to their animations. These abilities cannot be interrupted, and canceling them or being stopped while casting them will not consume your Ultimate."

"This ability and its morphs now all have a minor cast time to match their animation of slamming down the glorious Dawnbreaker."

Synchronizing their attacks to their animations? Glorious Dawnbraker? Are you guys Role Players or Game Developers?

Surprised that this idiocy wasn't scrapped from a final patch but oh well, another broken patch so nothing special.

Tested the cast times. They're not horrible but all they do is make an already laggy/unreliable timed game feel even more clunky. It's just like the channeled time on dark deal. Weird timing now and honestly just a garbage "fix". Roll cancelling an incap or dawnbreaker just doesn't feel smooth anymore, you have to wait a certain amount of time...it's just clunky and is not the fast paced gameplay we associate with ESO. This change should be rolled back.

Everyone who's ever been in Cyrodiil knows that there's always been a cast time on Ultimates. Fix the damned lag ZOS. Now they're just intentionally making Ultis less reliable.

A change because of PvP because 'low tier' (read : terrible player who play with their feet instead of hands) cant keep up with any average pvp player who is able to animation cancel his ultimate and does more dps because of that.

Im sure this makes the players who whsiper you and call you a macro user and cheater when they die very happy.

Cant wait to find out what zos will do next patch to lower the ceiling even more....

The point of it was so you couldn't animation cancel it. That way people at least have some small clue they are about to get smacked with it. Of course with the lag, good luck getting it to work now

Idk, I have mixed feelings since they have telegraphs on a bunch of other stuff, it's sort of only fair. But then I would fine if they just left stuff alone for a change for more than just one or two patches

Like it or not but animation canceling is part of the game. It is one of the last things left to show who is the better player. Better canceling, more dps, better player.

Do you want to game to turn into better rng, better gear, "better player"?

Just because you want to roleplay as Merida's champion and want roleplay and immerse yourself while vanquishing evil with that glorious dawnbreaker everyone else has to do the same?

Ok, say this point is valid. Why make the change to Destructive Reach/Clench then? You make Clench the CC now but it still has the animation of a light attack rather than the flame circle that means it's a CC and you should block?

So far Templars kinda made it out of the whole standardizing everything.

    Sweeps > no delay
    Piercing javelin >28 meters
RoR > heal, damage and cleanse
Eclipse > can't be CC broken

Some may have gripes but overall my Templars look good this patch.

ZOS just doesn't care. Gotta dumb down the game, we can't have skill expression in this game.
Overload rework. Power Overload now does physical damage and grants you the power of a tornado: You throw a brick at the target with a light attack, and you hammer your head into that brick with every heavy attack. We have decreased its Ultimate cost, but increased the chance that you get stuck in the animation.

I actually feel like this kind of change should be introduced to more things. Maybe then combat would actually be fair for people that are handicapped or crippled and can't anim cancel, weave etc. as well as most people.

    Nah, the combat in this game is clunky and discouraging, no reasonable person has stuck with this title on the basis of combat mechanics;
animation cancelling does not improve it any, it just allows Killer personality types to imagine they are skillfully outplaying others with more efficient clicks

next someone will try to argue that ESO is good simply because it has no skill cooldowns -- even tho the majority of a practical skill bar is timed buffs with an artificial cooldown packed in due to the fact that it is useless to spam cast

Sure, let's keep catering the whole game to the lowest common denominator. Why not allow the people who actually enjoy skilled gameplay to keep enjoying it? Those of us that are actually good at the game will adapt to these changes. They're not hard to play around at all. Our argument is that they don't add much to the game. They do however, make already laggy gameplay feel even shittier. This isn't an argument about "400ms being added to incap where I now have to dodge roll right when my characters hands are crossed to cancel it makes the skill hard to use or more fair" it's an argument of "The gameplay is already incredibly laggy and can make timing things difficult, why are you adding even more lag.". There is a very real difference. If the game was able to consistently keep up with players and we could effectively time these things it would not be an issue. The issue is in the fact that right now you incap then block/barswap/roll dodge and HOPE that your skill was timed right or that your inputs were actually accepted. I'm just using Incap as an example. This goes for all ults that now have cast times tied to them.

yeah but doesn't that mean they view themselves as an Online Role Playing Game
rather than a Massively Multiplayer Online game?
“We don’t even use the term MMO with The Elder Scrolls Online anymore, because really it’s not,” game director Matt Firor says. “MMO was a term coined in 1997 with Ultima Online, EverQuest, and Dark Age of Camelot – we are not that game.”

if anything, in stating such they took the position of being more focused on role playing and less focused on gamification of mechanics
