WR + PDoc viability

Draconicer
I am new to the forums, so please forgive my ignorance. I am wanting to know if it would be feasible to pair Whitestrake's Retribution with Plaque Doctor for my NORD Tankplar? 24-Stam/0-Hlth/40Mag

Whitestrake's Retribution: Legendary sword w/weakening enchant and Legendary shield with stam enchant on front bar. Legendary lightning Staff w/crusher enchant on back bar. Three pieces of armor; all with stam enchant.

Plaque Doctor: Epic two pieces of armor; all with stam enchant. Epic jewelry w/shield-play enchant.

Legendary Blood Spawn Monster set w/health enchant.

Thanks in advance for all your input.

For PVE group dungeons, yes, its viable. Perhaps not ideal, and definitely not the meta - which leans more towards sets that support the group- but certainly viable. Group suppprt matters less in dungeons than in trials. For trials, you'll want whatever your trial group asks for.

So for most group dungeons, Plague Doctor + Just about Any Set will do just fine once you learn the mechanics of tanking.

The general issue with Whitestrake's Retribution is that the better you get at blocking/dodging/interrupting/avoiding the big damaging attacks from the boss, the less the set procs. When I used it, I was learning to tank, and it worked great because if the set proc'ed I knew what I needed to watch out for. It was a little like training wheels, actually. Once the set stopped proccing, I knew I didn't need it anymore and swapped to something else.

So Whitestrakes is viable, but you might find that it doesnt proc often enough to be useful.

Thank you so much! I am learning "TANKING" for my guild, so it is important for me to know these things. I am only up to 510CP so I have a ways to go before I can routinely give support to the group. Most appreciated.

PD is nerfed in next patch (2 days left), making this set almost pointless. Whistestrake sounds not that good set too... just invest some more attributes in health to have ~35k HP with food (longfin pasty) and you will have same survivability without downsides. I think ebon+torug will be so much better... also you may prefer ice staff to lightning staff on learning stage at least.

Thanks, Martin. What is nerfed in PD? I have the TP set in armor and jewelry. I'll need to farm Crypt of Hearts I & II to get the Ebon. Thanks bunches!

    From the PTS notes:

"Plague Doctor: Reduced the Max Health bonus of this set to 3000 from 4000, since this set has no additional requirements to justify an increase in stat density."

"Ebon Armory: Reduced the Max Health bonus of this set to 1000 from 1118."

Plague Doctor is still plenty viable. Ebon Armory just does basically the same thing for the tank, plus extra health for the group.

Special note: with Ebon Armory, you want armor and/or jewelry. Do Not get weapons/shield because when you bar swap, it will cause your groupmates' health to fluctuate.

So I will need to craft weapons and armor in TP. Thanks Varanis!
