I Wish We Had Wands

Or a 1h magicka weapon. I read somewhere that you can use 1h/dual wield heavy attacks to regen stamina faster than if you were to spam 2h heavy attacks. Kind of sucks if that's the case for magicka no? Since we are stuck with 2h only.

Would be interesting to put in a 1h magicka weapon like a wand and you can have your off-hand be w/e you want (shield, sword, etc). Would be sick if we could also get like off-hand books or orbs to go with it ha.

I know it won't happen since maybe these weren't in the original Elder Scrolls games but I still think it would be awesome.

I'd rather have 1 Hand and Rune/spell, or just casting magic with your hands. Both of those are present in the other TES games.

However, I do not miss Skyrim's dual wielding staves. That was pretty hilarious looking.

Real magicians don't need a weapon to cast their spells. Do it like the Fremen - command the rock to shatter.

I vote for the generic name, "Single-handed Spell Pointer." It could have nice jewels on it and be made by a smith. Or be a miniaturized version of existing staves...

In Skyrim I used to use a sword and open hand for spells. That would be cool.

I have a preconception of magic weapons:

    Wands - Harry Potter
    Staves - Gandalf
Daggers and Magic - Pure Awesomeness

Actually there are wands in ESO. You use them to cook chickens and explode scamps... not so much a step from there to a all out weapon, yes?

But "wand and shield" would make little sense to my. Why would a -mage- want to jug around a -physical- shield if they can conjure up mystic protections instead???

Personally I see "magic casting weapons" more like... the "firearms" equivalent in fantasy settings. Soooo... staves would be the muskets, and wands or whatever the flintlock pistols? And as such, I would copy the historical usage - either as offhand ranged option for hybrid fighters, or dual-wielding for more firepower (and that "highwayman" feeling)!
I'd rather have 1 Hand and Rune/spell, or just casting magic with your hands. Both of those are present in the other TES games.
    YES!
Definitely "One-handed and Magic", though I had that idea that "Runestone" and "Wand" could be two weapon choices for that with different effects - one gets more damage, and one a range bonus... much like melee fighters can pick between more damage (sword), more bleed (axe) or more penetration (mace) (and sometimes more criticals - dagger) on occasion...

But I posted all that before: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/371862/additional-weapon-skill-ideas-mk-ii/p1 ;)

Each weapon has a different base resource amount a Heavy Attack restores. Sure DW has faster heavies but the amount of stamina recovered is less. Same thing with staves, fire, ice, lightning, and resto all recover different amounts.

Well there are two quests i can think of that have Wand/ Rod. The one with the Gnarled Wand in Bleakrock Isle and the Rod used with Neramo on Stros m'kai. But they just really look like small staves.

This. I've complained for years about the animations for the staves, and this was one of the points I always made. They're supposedly 2 hand weapons, but we only use 1 hand on them.

Personally, I'd much rather just see them change the animations back to what they were in the beginning... or better yet, revamp the staff animations entirely. I've posted on that before, too.
    Morgha_Kul wrote: »
So, I was playing a while back and they introduced new animations for several things. I noticed the walking, and I noticed the staff animations, and also the animation for the 2H sword ability "Uppercut." The walking animations were nice, but the staff animations were awkward and unnatural looking (and conspicuously ONE HANDED, for a two handed weapon), and the Uppercut animation was wierdly accelerated halfway through, making it look unrealistic and silly.

The forums blazed with dismay, as people told the devs in no uncertain terms that the new animations, at least these ones, were awful, and should be changed back or adjusted. Real life took me away from the game for a time, and after a couple of months (or whatever it is), I've returned to find nothing has been done.

Thus, I am again bringing this up.

The animations for staff attacks look terrible. They look awkward and uncomfortable. More, the mere STANCE of the character when not actually attacking, but with the weapon drawn, is also ugly and uncomfortable looking. For example, it's GREAT that we can stand with our staff in hand, leaning on it like a walking stick. However, we stand with feet apart, slightly off-balance, with our arm sticking out and wrist awkwardly bent. Why not let us stand like the Prophet does? Why can we not WALK with the staff the way the Prophet does? These animations are clearly in the game, so why can't WE use them? It's also very annoying that only restoration staff users get to stand like this at all. Destruction staff wielders stand awkwardly with the staff held more or less horizontal. When at rest, staves should be held upright (again, the way the Prophet holds his).

The attack animations should be changed to be more natural and fluid, and should use TWO HANDS. Indeed, the original animations were MUCH better. Just return us to those. The idle animations with weapons drawn should also be changed back. We should NOT wear a staff on our backs at any time. When a staff is stowed, we should hold it in our hands as the Prophet does, and if we walk while it's stowed, we should walk USING the staff, again as the Prophet does.

The original animation for Uppercut was ALSO much, much better. It was slower on the upswing, giving the attack a feeling of actual WEIGHT. It looked like I was hitting my foe with a heavy sword. The current animation starts slow, but the sword seems to turn into balsa wood for the upswing, which is comically fast. Once again, just return us to the original animation. If the point was to make the attack faster, then do one of two things: either speed up the whole (original) animation, so that it doesn't wierdly change midway through, or increase the damage of the attack to compensate for it being slower.

I'm sure there are other animations that people can bring up. These are just the ones I've come in contact with. I encourage other players to add their requests to this thread, and I hope the developers will look in and take the request seriously. Even better if we could get some dialog started between the devs and the community, so I encourage the devs to join in and comment.

    Thanks!

Yeah, I like a wand, too.

Preferably one with a star on the end, that leaves a sparkly trail when you wave it.

Had one on my Mage in WoW.

Also, the staff animations in this game aren't great.

    Prefer the ones in GW2.

Magica absolutely needs another weapon skill line. Comparing magica with stamina, it is clear to see the disparity, even if we discount sword on board since its not dps.

    Stamina has:
    Sword n board
    2H
    Duel wield
    Bow.

    Magica has:
    Staff (destro).

I have long argued we need a 2nd magic weapon skill line. My preference is absolutely NOT for wands, which I think are gimmicky and childish (I hate Harry Potter). My preference is for something like tombs/books/runes, which would be held and visible in one hand, with the other hand effectively casting the spell.
