Framerate problems caused by the Skill Blood Altar and its morphs (Anguine Altar, Overflowing Altar)

Hello Zenimax, it would be kind if you can put on some investigation the following issue.

My main role within end-game PvE raiding is healing and supporting. Several other players and myself already noticed that there is something wrong with the skill Blood Altar and its morphs because it has a significant negative impact on the framerate over time.

There is no direct negative impact on the framerate when using this skill, but it is getting worse the longer i play. From a developer point of view, i guess there is an issue with the disposing/removing of some objects (Proly some entries on a client side collection) which got affected by the Blood Altar debuff/buff.

When i start raiding e.g. Sunspire or Cloudrest, then the often we have to redo some trashmobs or bossencounters, the worse my framerate goes. I start with like 80ish-90ish FPS and at the end it goes down to below 15 FPS which requires me to restart my client. After that my framerate is fine again.

It seems this only affects players, who are actively using the Blood Altar skill.

    not sure what the columbo effect is but this is the bug report section, it does not get the traffic of other parts of this forum, so dont expect responses.

    We believe that, this issue is already present since a view chapter's/dlc's but we were not sure about the causing. - Usually after a playtime of like 26ish minutes in Sunspire, including one or two early wipes at the Lookestiiz hardmode encounter i am pretty sure, that i have to restart my client when we arrive at the Naahviintaas hardmode encounter or at least i am sure that i have like 40ish FPS less.

    Usually after a playtime of like 26ish minutes in Sunspire, including one or two early wipes at the Lookestiiz hardmode encounter i am pretty sure, that i have to restart my client when we arrive at the Naahviintaas hardmode encounter or at least i am sure that i have like 40ish FPS less.

    I experience similar FPS drops in Lokke HM, but disabling all addons and lowering the view distance prevent that from happening.

    I think part of the reason for the FPS drop in Lokke HM specifically is due to the extra things being rendered: 1) The rain and 2) The second dragon flying around. But if you lower the view distance and particles it prevents the massive FPS drop in that fight.

    Ad 1 & 2 ) SaltySudd, thanks for your suggestions. - I play this game since beta and i am aware of several FPS tweaks. - It aint the case that i have a direct problem with my framerate. With that forum post i just want to report a bug which is present and requires to be handled.

    We have the same problem reportet from our warden heal of the second raiding group. when she stopped using the altar, the frame rate went stable.

    Interesting, I also got similar performance issues in that fight when using blood altar and even when disabling all addons and the like still got some issues. Will have to give that a look next time I'm there.

    Usually if you wipe more than a few times on a boss, the frames gradually deteriorate, blood altar or not. It's hard to run progression groups when everyone has to port back to the lobby and reload UI every so often. Otherwise, bar swapping and turning the camera become new mechanics...
