ZOS, We need a QoL regarding new contest's prologue quests'

When you create a new character and walk into the first alliance city...

There are literally 6-8 new quest arrows waiting for you

It's quite bad for a experienced player with new character already, I can't imagine how a new player react to this many quests

Not to mention they probably have no idea these are prologue quests and just get drag to a story line they might not want to start yet (mostly due to the fact it's always somewhat immersion-breaking if you play the quests out of order)

Here is what I propose:
1.Spread out the starting quests an prologue quests in the 5 alliance zones, so new players don't get overwhelmed

2.Change the icons, we already have a new icon for main questline, now give each chapter and story dlc's main/prologue quest a unique quest icon, so players know what are they getting into

3.In the story tab (in collection tab), sort the orders backward, so the ones get released first are at the start, newer ones are in the tail, so players know the order of their release

4.Merge the dungeon dlcs into the order of their release and add them to the main story tab as well, and use icons to indicate whether it's a chapter, a story dlc or dungeon dlc. This is because now we have some dungeons link to the story line of certain chapter and story dlc now.

5. Minor one. add craglorn into the story tab

These requires little effort but can be a great QoL addition, especially for new players. It also make the rest of the alliance zones (3rd.4th.5th one) a bit more lively

It would be cool to be able to activate DLC (like Orsinium/TG/DB) somehow, so Stuga doesn’t stalk every toon I have.

Reviving this because the issue is just getting worse and worse out there. I have friends who recently started ESO and complained that it felt like they were just rushing into end game content straight away. I asked them if they'd tried the main story of the game yet, and it turns out they had no idea such a thing existed, because they "could not find it among all the other quests". This meant that they had no clue what these skyshard things were that they were supposed to collect, or what the point of the anchors was, or even that there was a Coldharbour crisis going. This is not the experience a new player fresh into the game should have.

While we're on the topic of new characters, could we also please be allowed to chose which starting quest (original or DLC) we want to go with in character creation? With the original main story quest clearly marked for new players. And make the DLC breadcrumb quests accessible through collections or something, so we can chose when we want each of these people to come to us instead of having them descend upon us in a horde? This would do wonders to declutter the currently very confusing new player experience.

    Agreed.

Especially number 2. suggestion should have been there from the start.

A newish player I invited to one of my guilds, after he finished the original main quests, thanked me for explaining why they should NOT do more than "get out of the tutorial" in Elseweyr, go to their starting faction town and find the "mysterious benefactor" and start from there. He admitted that he would have had no idea who some of these npcs were, and why they seemed to know his character. He also said the story made a lot more sense starting the original story and going on from there.

It would be great if there was a "recommended quests" scroll or something, if the new chapter tutorials can't be made optional.

    Great suggestions, totally agree!

These prologue quests have some weird assumptions baked into them I find. On one hand, they assume the player has already completed the previous main quest (see Abnur Tharn conflicts) or largely explored Tamriel. With so many core skill lines like FG/MG and Soul Magic being essential, I think it'd be better to keep funneling players through Coldharbour and the starter zone.

On the other hand, it's geared towards a new player because of the attention-grabbing feel these have. No NPC should be chasing me. And hearing that guy rant about dragons in his homeland isn't world building when you've heard him say it a billion times. So many of these NPCs rapidly repeating dialogue. It all adds to a noisy and quite frankly annoying experience. Heck, I've known several people to "hard pass" this game over the questing.

New players aren't going to understand the difference between the daily crafting writs yelling at them, the prologue quests pestering them, and why some hooded woman REALLY wants to chat. New players shouldn't just whisk themselves off to some expansion without the context of so many skills and characters. It's jarring.

All good points. It also really bothers me when I get a letter from a prologue NPC that asks me to meet them, and in their letter they list three locations on opposite ends of Tamriel.

Like... which is it? Where are we meeting? It's just a completely bonkers gameplay thing that gets inserted into the narrative of the letter.

    I could not agree more.
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.

It would be cool to be able to activate DLC (like Orsinium/TG/DB) somehow, so Stuga doesn’t stalk every toon I have.

It does get kinda creepy after a while...

A friend of mine suggested that alternatively we should have the option of stabbing Stuga after a while. :P

I agree with the premise of this thread. New players in zone chats questioning the continuity of the story is a really frequent occurence and I don't think this is a good thing to ignore forever.
