Undaunted dungeons (Veteran? Normal?)

How do I know which NPC gives me the Veteran Dungeon and which one the Normal version?

I am kinda confused.

They give you the pledge for a specific dungeon. Up to you if you do it on normal (you get 1 key) or veteran (you get 2 keys IF you do the hard mode on the last boss). You can set the normal/veteran mode in the group window or when choosing the dungeon in the group finder.

Ah! it used to be different I think years ago (returning player here!). So now I can select the difficulty by myself in the LFG tool, right?

Vet or normal is optional, you select then you enter dungeon, in finder select specific dungeon.
Normals are listed first and veteran below. You can actually queue for both but as DD you pretty much almost get veteran as more tanks and healers do them.

If you travel directly to dungeon, group leader has to set difficulty in the grouping tool under group before entering.
This is also done for trials and arenas like maelstrom arena.

If new to dungeons i recommend stay with normal until you understand how they works. You also have to be above level 50 to do veteran but cp160 is recomended
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I am L50 and CP 250 (somehow?). I just want to learn again the dungeons from scratch before I dare the veteran versions.

Youre right it used to be different, you used to get silver / gold pledges but thats a really long time ago.

Most of the non DLC content is sadly an absolute faceroll (thanks to the cp-system and powercreep resulting from it) even with hardmodes activated, so you wont really need alot of "learning-process" to clear them.

Now you have 3 NPCs for pledges and as someone already explained depending on difficulty it will give you 1 key (for normal and veteran) or 2 keys (for veteran with hardmode), netting you a maximum of 6 keys per day, per character.

Two of the three pledges are for basegame dungeons and the third is targeted at a DLC dungeon.

    Thanks!

I talked to Bolgrul and he gave me a delve quest, but I cannot find it in the quest journal, because I already have 24/25 quests activated.

How do I quit his pledge quest?

The undaunted quests is under the zone the dungeon is in, yes this is very confusing and annoying if you did not do all 3.

Bolgrul give delve quests, not group dungeons. They luckily is under guild quests.

And what's the difference between all three chests? It used to be that I was able to unlock one special chest with two keys I think.

    Nowaydays what's the difference?

1 key reward from normal and 2 keys reward from vet

Different sets from different chests all cost one key for one opening with RNG

3 different pledge givers 3 different chests.

Each chest has a different selection of shoulder. This pic is a bit old but is correct for the non dlc dungeons. All the dlc shoulders come from thr centre chest.

If my memory serves me, it used to be that normal pledges gave you a silver key and vet pledges gave you a gold key, which were used in separate chests. So what are YOU on if you remember differently? :)

    Thank you!

Okay, I use heavy gear as DPS, but often the chests give me medium gear. Can I somehow have an influence on that? I just need heavy gear.

Do the chests also give purple gear?

The gear weight is random, as is the set. You cant influence what drops (or atleast thats what they say ;) )

The gear will all drop in purple.

So the gear is all of purple CP 160 quality?

The shoulders from the chests are purple. The gear level will match the level of the character opening the chest, up to cp160.

If you are cp70, you will get a level cp70 shoulder of purple quality. Once you are cp160 and over, all shoulders will be cp160.

Ok, thanks. Is there better gear than purple CP 160?

I guess if I combine several gear items, I also get the bonus for having several set items.

2 from vet with hard mode, standard vet is just 1 key.
Vet give purple drops and normal give blue, this is relevant for jewelry.
Veteran also give the monster helmets in random weight and trait.

its gold, however ignore it outside of weapons unless filthy rich, weapons however is important to have in gold.

The phrase "veteran mode" in dungeons has meant different things at different times. If you mean "veteran" in the current sense, then the NPC pledge givers have nothing to do with it directly. Rather, you (or your group leader) selects normal vs. veteran versions of the dungeon, in one of several ways that all can be found via the "Group" section of your interface.

Also, if you look up a guide online to one of the eight dungeons with a "2" in their names -- Banished Cells 2, Crypt of Hearts 2 and so on -- you might find ones so old that they refer to these dungeons by their previous, obsolete name, which is "veteran mode" (in the old sense) instead of "2".

The big middle chest. Urgalarg sp Chief-Bane now includes all the newer DLC shoulders as well as what someone posted, so there are quite a few more possibilities in that chest than the prevailing guides show. They are about to change the key system and do away with the chests in the next patch coming soon, so OP, wouldn't spend too much time learning the current system.

The keys should still work and I believe the chests would still be an option, they would be beneficial if you want multiple shoulders, buying an box will be better if you are after one from a chest.

Text is flat, I'm telling you what I meant! Have more awesomes.

Op's recollections of the game were wrong, I told him how current system is, you brought up how it used to be, all are correct. GG.

Also I didn't insult anyone merely made observation.
