So does the stolen loot in people's house randomly generate for each player?

So my question is? I was ransacking a house the other day. And I had pretty much emptied it out. And then I saw another player come in, and they were attempting to loot as well. And it appeared they were. How is that possible considering I just looted the house before them? I have also noticed that occasionally I will see a draw already open. Does that mean someone already looted it? I guess what I am asking? Is loot procedurally generated for each player?

Also, you will very often find all possible containers that can be looted aren't always lootable for you. The loot is individually instanced - a friend and I can run through the same palace, for instance, looting tables and jewelry boxes and trunks, etc. For me, some of those will already be open as if they were looted and others I can loot just fine. It might look the opposite to my friend - different trunks may look already looted and others will be lootable for him.

    Just the way it is.

The quality of loot you find seems to depend on your level in legerdemain, at least for loot stolen/robbed from neutral NPCs. As people have different levels in that, the game has to "roll" different loot for everybody.

Sort of random. Altho its selected from a loottable, RNG is never 100% random. Mainly because its a programmed generator, thus you will see some kind of rotation at some point.

Just messin with you. In my experience we all get our own instance of loot. Back when we had the magical wardrobe room with 100 wardrobes in it you'd see several people looting them simultaneously.

Hey! I'm a thief, that's what I do. Besides how else am I going to make any real money in this game? I made 5,000 gold with looting alone.

Containers like wardrobes, cabinets, urns, sacks, etc are individually instanced for both loot and what's lootable.

Treasure Chests, heavy sacks, and I believe safeboxes are not, unless you are doing group content in which case everyone can loot it. If you have the treasure hunter passive, it will not apply to group members. This does mean that if you leave junk in a, overland chest, someone else will get stuck with it if they find it before the chest respawns.

    Traitor's Vault?

It's a delve on Artauem. When Summerset first released, it had an incredible loot table. You could park all your toons there and go through a cycle of re-logging with each one, running around and looting all the wardrobes in this one massive room that had a ridiculous number of them. You had much higher than normal chances of pulling blue and purple Alinor furniture plans, so it was a veritable gold mine.

Which wasn't supposed to be like that. LOL After weeks of it being a furniture plan farmer's dream come true, a patch nerfed it to correct the loot tables. It's not even remotely magical anymore.

Basic Loot, crates, urns, sacks etc, has always had its own instance for Every individual. Once you hit actual chests you need lockpicks for those are first come first serve.
