Elemental Ring for what?

It does insta damage in an area, but the damage is low and the cost too much. If I compare it with skills like deep fissure for example, this one does the double the damage, it has 3 stupid seconds to cast that I can use to build a combo with another skill and it cost a lot less.
Can anyone tell me for what circumstances is this skill good?

✭✭✭✭Don't compare deep fissure to ele ring. Compare to haunting curse or power of the light.
Elering is good in AOE. More then 3 targets but people don't care about that.1 -

✭✭✭✭✭Mainly useful for trash in trials. It also has a pretty good chance of causing Concussion if you use the Shock version. With a Charged Lightning Staff it is the best way to get Minor Vuln on large groups of enemies, and adding a Lightning Wall means high off-balance uptimes.0
