Battlegrounds and daily rewards

Ameyraline
I feel that being able to claim your daily rewards in battlegrounds by getting 2nd place creates a situation that can be frustrating for players who want to win the game. Many times my teammates bow to the winning team so they can get their XP and leave, but it's not a teammate problem it's the daily rewards system that lets players happily settle for second.

I always want to win the game however when u solo queue with high MMR and are continuously matched against organised premades (i.e. cohesive and synchronised groups) then being able to claim second spot is a godsend.

Btw im not saying you're wrong however you are just looking at it from one point of view.

If this was not the case, that's 8 players who spent 20 minutes at least, for virtually nothing. I suspect this would drastically reduce the number of players entering the Battlegrounds queues, therefore negatively impacting on Battlegrounds as a whole.

Think of all the casual players and non pvp players who want to have some fun, or want to unlock/level alliance skills, want to get the xp from quests and the random reward etc... you may be alienating them. A 1 in 3 chance of getting the xps is a lot worse than a 2 in 3 chance.

When I play Battlegrounds I play to win. But it can very quickly become apparent that a pre-made team or one team is going to dominate. In that case it becomes a race to 2nd place for the remaining teams, which is fine, because still leaves competition and something to play for. You see, flip around your logic, it works both ways.

    No from me.

I've found that playing BG's from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.(later on weekends) is basically when premades dominate. I came into one team as a fourth in a 3 player premade....they aptly named it "pug stomping time". It is what it is...and yes, we dominated that particular match.

In cases like that, getting rewards for second place is a godsend.

I think the current system is fine. The rewards aren't game changing, so why not reward 1st and 2nd place? By the logic of the OP I'd suggest increasing the rewards for winning, as opposed to taking rewards away for 2nd place. Maybe that would encourage people more.

In a system where premades and pugs were separated, I'd agree.
In a system like we have now, and the funky MMR debacle, I think this works out fine.

You can be an encouraged pug all you like, but a team that communicates and coordinates ultimate dumps with synergized gear and a dedicated healer is going to win 95% of the time. Encouraging rewards is going to do little to change that.

How can you "claim" second place early, before the match is over? Can you leave before the match is done and still get the reward?

I usually dont play battlegrounds at all because I tend to be on the loosing team. So why bother. Maybe one day when I git gud.

No. Not if want to keep players queing. You can already pick up quests where you need to get wins.

I'd suggest if you want to have fun and possibly win, make a casual premade. Gather random guildies / friends with mic, communicate and play as team. I dont PvP (yet) in this game but in my previous experience in other games medicore players who know the basis and work as team will likely beat colletion of lone l337s.

This would make the matchmaking system way more frustrating than it already is.

Right now if you get matched against a pre-made group, at least you can battle for second place.

If you think settling for second is bad, wait until you see people give up entirely when they know they can’t win.

I love games vs premades because it gives me a big satisfaction see how people have a great team bullying unorganized and weak players.

The trick is always try to put in the shoes of the other one :-)

Your right it does work both ways,

Your right they aren't game changers, if I really want to win I'll just make a premade group.

So you think people try less because they can settle for second place? Resulting in a game you find often unenganging due to the reward system.

Personally I think being able to receive your daily even if you get second place is great. I'm more inclined to queue for a BG since they're relatively short and also enjoyable knowing the risks of losing are low.

That being said, I play to win even if my team is losing. Feels good to win 1st place, feels better to steal 1st place, but nice to know 2nd place still offers daily rewards.

I feel most players in BG want to win but as mention about sometimes in BG the best you can do is 2nd. Generally what I see happen are players that treat every mode as death match and don’t really try to win when it’s not

Battlegrounds are horrific for peopl like me anyhow (casual players in pvp). 9 out of 10 BG's I lose because I got matched against premades, or with people like myself who have 0 chance against pro-pvpers. SO yeah, being second place to get a chance for another stylepage is good enough for me.

And lets be honest guys: the battlegrounds stylepages look damn good!
