What to do with Transmute Crystals?

I have maxed out my transmute crystals at 200/200.

What do I do with the crystals? I don't really want to do a lot of min/maxing now, but it seems like that is the only use.

Am I missing some way to use these so I can open more geodes once again?

Use them on something. You might have some gear stashed that doesn't have perfect traits maybe? A monster shoulder that would take 100 keys or more to get in the perfect trait? Perhaps you have a broom that doesn't have training trait yet or an old Wabbajack that is not yet infused? If every piece of gear you have for now and later is all in the perfect trait and you're at 200 crystals, turn something nirnhoned and decon it for a shot at nirncrux.

Yeah, I keep various armor sets that I plan to try at some point in my bank so I slowly transmute them to divines or impenetrable depending if I use them for PVE or PVP.

However they need to increase the carry limit to something like 500 or allow you to sell them at traders.

Transmute something in your inventory, then transmute it right back to original, and repeat. Back to 0.

It's definitely not the only use. Transmuting is for whenever you want gear in a particular trait for a character, regardless of the reason you might have for doing this. With respect to jewelry, the ONLY way to get most traits for dropped sets is to transmute. Maybe you want a certain trait because you're a power gamer. Or maybe you want a certain trait because it fits the character concept better. Maybe you want a trait to mitigate some of the weaknesses of your character. The reason can really be whatever.

I am just starting to run some dungeons, so I don't have high level gear in many places. Perhaps I should aim at getting my Pet Sorc main to have the "ideal" gear per alcasthg.com.

That is a thought. Any specific gear that would be best to do this conversion on?

Any weapon that you have the Nirnhoned trait researched on will do. It does have to be a weapon, since Potent Nirncrux sells for a lot more than Fortified.

Personally, I would find a way to make room for your extra transmute containers and just save them. You might not be much of a min/maxer now, but who knows in the future. Weapon/armor traits are really important. Since the last chapter dropped, I have used almost all my reserves, and I had close to 20 containers with 50 each in them.

Can I transmute something and then use that to research on another character? I assume I have to know the trait I am transmuting to, correct?

I've hot about 2k of transmute crystals waiting just in case I ever need them - mostly in packages of 50. I'm in no hurry to use them.

Not sure if you can research transmuted gear but you do need to know a trait before you can transmute to it.

You can't package already opened geodes or acquired crystals.

But most players with tons of crystals get them from PVP end of campaign rewards, which from the 30 day come in 50 crystal geodes. So as long as you have the inventory space, you can just hold onto the Geode.

Transmute some jewelry and monster sets...y'know, stuff you're gonna use long-term. Making jewelry infused is a pretty safe bet, as that's a trait that works for all roles and for both pve and pvp.

There's nothing wrong with approximate min-maxing. The trait on a weapon is much more important than the trait on armor, and so I've transmuted a number of weapons, including ones I'm not sure I'll ever use.

I also transmuted some thief-build jewelry to Swift.

Tranmuting a piece of armor has very small benefit, and so far I've never done that.

You can't as such. More than 25k AP in a 30 day campaign gives you a 50 crystal geode, 1 million AP gives you 2 of them. Got about 30+ of these and several dozen 4-25 crystal geodes, I destroy the smaller ones (1, 2, 1-10, etc).

Make sure that you have full rank in Blacksmith (metal weapon) or woodcrafting (bow and staves) before you decon to have highest chance to get trait item back and mats.

Bummer. I was hoping to save some gold that way.

You can craft an item that have been researched on one character (normal/white quality is enough with the trait you want to research) and move it the other character which haven't researched that trait yet. It is the same if you want to fully gain rank for Glyphs and Jewelcrafting.

If you don't know anybody that can help you with base weapon, armour or jewels for research then take a look at Guild Stores as there are a lot items that can be found that can be researched (any quality work for this, but it best to use white, green or blue quality items as you will not get back any mats out research). The exception might be jewels as most people want to sell those items fast and purple rings and amulets are easier to sell as such instead of expecting buyer to improving jewels which can cost a lot in mats for quality. After you gain knowledge in trait for Jewel crafting, you create your own white ring which can be level 1 item on your other character.

Another option is to ask in zone chat or guild if somebody can craft you item for research. As already explained above you only need item with the right trait and it can be normal, white level 1 when crafter ask about information. Most people (at least with CraftBag/ESO+) have more then enough of mats to do this as long as you provide trait material, if they ask for it. Nirncrux is rather expensive as trait material, so here you should expect to offer to send it or compensate for it to a crafter you trust.

That way you can gain faster and probably cheaper your traits on both character as research will increase in time for each trait your learn. As for Nirncrux it is best to check if you can find cheap item with that trait instead of buying trait and craft it yourself (when you have learned that trait on at least one character). You need to check price on trait material and see which option would be best for you. Also invest skill points in reducing research time and from rank 2 you will get access to research 2 and later 3 items at once.

As for armour and head, those will give you highest stat if you have them in Infused. Use a wiki to get more information about how much difference it makes depending on quality.

I tend to save the 50 crystal geodes I get from campaign end. The rest i open and use.
As other say: first use is gear you use with wrong traits weapons is most important here, second is monster shoulders.
then its other gear you collect and plan to use in builds.
    Then its transmuting weapons.

Yeah, I only hoard the 50 crystal containers. But man, are they handy when you need them. I will hoard the smaller ones during event time if am at 200/200, but I usually have something I can transmute though.

Last event, I changed two of my VO daggers and a set of veledrith head and shoulders to training just for some grinding gear. haha
