Just how bad are Steam login issues? (EU)

Hi, I'm a veteran player and have noticed in game purchases are cheaper in my region due to steam's pricing. Are the issues still common? Is there any workaround? Thanks in advance

    Haven't had any issues recently.

But they do happen, you can still login if you have an old ESO account, but you won't get any ESO+ benefits/crowns when the Steam issues are ongoing.

i have a friend who is on steam

and if you count the days he can not login for 1 year

and then spread them out among 12 months

you end up with 2 days for each month

the longest single streak being for 8 days straight steam just not working somehow

In more than 5 years, I have not been able to login through Steam only 1 time but I am on the NA server. Don't know if that makes a difference.

Again a NA player but I have used Steam for about 3-4 years now and only ran into an issue 3 times. Granted those issues persisted for a couple of days each but all and all it's not too bad.

When Steam goes bad, it seems to take a long time to resolve. The issues are sporadic, but irritating when they do happen. It has been a few months since we have had an issue.

Other than sporadic sale pricing of game content, Steam will not be any cheaper than the store here. Also, I think there is a current sale on content not on Steam.

Steam currently has an up to 80% off sale on almost all Bethesda content because of QuakeCon. Elsweyr is 35% off. Crowns are also up to 40% off. @Nestor What current sale on content is not on Steam? Just curious cause I don't want to miss out. :)

There is twitch related sale on Amazon, but only know NA pricing. You might also look at the Official Store page here

I think Nestor means that whatever sale is on Steam, it's in the official store, too, so no reason to add even more problems with Steam. Not sure about the other way, I don't play ESO on Steam.
As for the issues related to Steam: take all problems with "normal" version and double it - whenever sh*t happens, it takes twice as long to fix it on Steam.

It's cheaper due to Steam's regional pricing for me. Also thanks to everyone for replying, it seems it's not as bad as everyone made it out to be. I'll be picking it up on Steam soon.

Note that you can still buy and redeem keys from other sites even when you purchased the original game on Steam for whatever reason. You just need to log in to ESO's website with your Steam data, then navigate to your account details and redeem your key there.

Unless it's like 50% cheaper, I strongly advice against it.

EDIT: It's not only an issue with updates and patches, it's also unexpected crashes. From my experience, my fellow guildies on Steam crash twice as much - especially if you have less than perfect internet connection.

I think the question is not whether the problems often attributed to Steam are real. The question is why would anyone want to introduce a third party program into the running of the game? It won't run any better because of Steam, it only has the potential to run it worse. Heads you lose, tails you neither lose nor win. Meanwhile, anyone buying through Steam now is permanently locked into Steam.

Wait until patch day  Login issues are incredibly common after updates in this game, and often happen even after maintenances. Expect being unable to log in during patch days due to extended maintenances and sever takedowns due to login issues. While Steam issues aren't as common as they were before (sometimes they happened every week), it's still an unnecessary layer of complication you can avoid if you purchase the game directly.
