Solo Instance Main Story Quest can be reset, apparently

The Weight of Three Crowns can apparently be reset. Maybe because it's a solo instance, but exiting the game and waiting for a while (I read in a post that 20 minutes is enough to get you booted out of any instances) will cause the mission restart.

This is simply how these instances have always worked, not sure what makes you mention it.

It's how you've always been able to reset and comeback later .. before everything was level-scaled it was the usual way you'd back-out of a fight you decided you couldn't win and come back later after doing a bit more leveling.

Not sure what you mean.
Resetting a fight, sure. Resetting a mission, I always use Abandon and then pick up the mission again.
But a main quest mission cannot be abandoned so you can't reset the mission progress and start all over in the same way. Not just come back and do a fight again.
