Console Performance

It is disappointing how bad the performance on console has gotten. Playing any sort of "end-game" is near impossible due to stuttering and extremely low fps. For reference, I play ESO on the original Xbox One. This means that I am the bottom of the barrel when it comes to performance.

This does not mean that ZOS can take its merry time fixing performance issues.

I tried to play CoA 2 today. It is safe to say that the Deadlands are the closest thing to heck in this game. All the way through the dungeon, on every add pull, and on every boss, I was hovering on around 15 FPS on most add pulls, to around 5 FPS during some stages of some boss fights, notably during the execute phase of Horvantud the Fire maw. On top of this, I had issues with abilities not firing, but I'm mostly sure that is because of bad ping.

I cannot bear to think what the performance would be like during trials and Cyrodiil.

Even Overland can be hit with these massive stutters and FPS drops sometimes, notably in large cities. Don't even get me started on the dragon fights. I am honestly kind of curious if ZOS has ever tested fighting a dragon on console with 20 other players. And keep in mind that 20 players fighting one dragon is small amount.

The fact that the performance issues have even began to leak into Overland is a testament to how bad it has gottten.

A large portion of the combat in this game is simply painful to endure.
This is completely unacceptable.

This should be a TOP PRIORITY for ZOS. They should NOT be working on new DLCS or Chapters. If the game is BROKEN, which it is, they should be FIXING it

I understand that a "performance fix" is on the way. Unfortunately, a "performance fix" should have been on its way for years. It is shameful how bad it has gotten. Issues like this have been slowly getting bigger and bigger over the years and ZOS has continued to neglect it.

Please, if you want this game survive for even 2 more years on console, you are going to have to make massive fixes ZOS. People simply don't spend money on a game they cannot enjoy.

Oh, it would also be great to have an official message pinned at the top of general discussion that actually tells us that you know there is a problem and that fixing the problem is a top priority. Communication can go a very long way. Don't forget that.

P.S, at this point I would honestly take a transfer of my characters to PC. At least then if I invest into a better machine I know it will be useful.
XBOX NA 1000+ CP
PC NA 400+ CP
nerf ping please

You touch on something that has always mystified me... why the performance is so bad in a 4 person dungeon... I can almost understand lag in all of the other instances where there are (possibly) dozens of people. The game keeping your guild roster updated (who’s online and off and what they’re doing) is the only thing that kind of makes sense to me (in my case it’s 4 guilds totaling about 1700 people).

At first I told myself, okay new chapter, so issues are to be expected. Now I’m starting to worry that this is the new normal and won’t be fixed. Getting damaged by ground effects or enemies I can’t even see yet is quite annoying. The audio lag, while not as detrimental, is irritating too. I really like the chapter but the performance is so bad I’m feeling less inclined to play.

Performance fix has been on the way for years already, but only in talks and threads to create an illusion for customers for the better performance in the future. At this point when all the major problems like the premium level lag should be very clear for Zenimax, it would be pointless to have some pinned official message just to create the illusion again, silence is less insulting now and less work for Zenimax to create pointless nonconstructive threads. I remember the Midyear Mayhem 2017 when the lag and crashes were horribad, Cyrodiil performance was supposed to be some priority for Zenimax at that time once again, I thought surely Cyrodiil will work much better next year when they've had enough time to fix things, Mayhem 2018 was quite as bad as 2017 edition, I only suffered because of the double ap. Now year 2019 my Xbox EU account has been completely stuck since Wrathstone arrived so over 4 months now, it is or was being investigated, I'm not dumb anymore and believe any of the priority garbage talks.

You have a better chance in finding the tooth fairy than a mythical fix for the horrible performance eso has accumulated for the past three years, you can lag in overland for no apparent reason now.

Damn I thought console performance was coming back :# . I play PS4 NA and the last few days I have experienced considerably less lag compared to a weak or two ago when Cyro was unplayable and BGs would freeze and D/C.

You do know they have multiple teams right? Dlc,crown and general fixes. Sadly the performance is bad on console on pc I can at least enjoy it. But then also take in to consideration the consoles lack power that a pc has, eso is a MASSIVE mmo that keeps growing. That means more and more strain on the system running it. Not defending zos, as they need to step it up. But there are many thi vs that could be causing g it, personally my mid range pc runs 105ms 60+fps pve. 45-60fps at 110ms in pvp.

Lmao zos doesn’t give a *** about console.
They didn’t even give us a complete patch that was supposed to hit on Monday. Goliath pummeling bash is still absurdly broken on console meanwhile PC had their fix three weeks ago. Console is clearly just a pile of trash to zos and they couldn’t care less.
    PROVE ME WRONG.
Bet I’ll get banned because an admin got offended at me speaking the truth.

I can easly prove you wrong on a few fronts. Fir one updating a game on console is not as easy as pushing the patch like on pc. Microsoft and Sony both have to approve it. And their asses are slow at it. Where pc is conected directly to their patch server. And no, you would get banned or at least warned for your language.

Yeah okay, I get you, but there's no defending it when FFXIV looks, sounds, and plays better on console than ESO. It is huge, it has a huge number of subs and a very heavily populated world, the graphics demand more, and it's crossplay so it combines populations from PC, PS4, and PS3. ZoS has literally no excuse for the level of lag and general glitching we deal with every day.

I am sick of dying while standing five feet outside of a telegraphed AoE. I am sick of not being able to loot the bosses we finally manage to kill despite all the wild shenanigans of mechanics not behaving as they should, ever. When they mentioned the special mechanics coming in the new dungeon, we all immediately groaned and said, "Great, one more thing to break and stop us clearing achievement runs due to buggy bullcrap." It is getting old.

Now if FFXIV just had actually engaging combat mechanics, maybe I could stop wishing ESO would improve. :/ Until then, I'm here begging them to step it up already.

When the game stutters and drops in a solo instance like Maelstrom.....

It takes two weeks for the patch to be approved.
It’s been two weeks and they haven’t even bothered to explain nor even give an eta as to when the patch will even come.

Ive learned to pvp in early morning or late at night, prime time isnt playable. Bgs for solid performance but going in solo fighting a stacked team isnt fun.
