Monster sets for tanks?

Well guys, I've done it. Got my Velidreth set for my Stamblade main. :)

In the preferred weights too.

With this done, it's now time to start looking at the monster set for my next character: An Imperial Dragonknight Vampire tank.

I'm still pretty new to tanking, and certainly have no idea what monster sets are worth pursuing, and that is what I would like to ask you today.

What monster sets should I look at for my tank?

    Lord warden is great
Mighty chudan if u r a lazy thing that doesn't use major buffs.
    Earthgore situational.
    Thurvokun situational.
    Bloodspawn for more ult regen.
Stonekeeper if you already have max resists and are permablocking tank.
Two resist pieces (lord warden gives more resists though by itself)
    Two mag regen pieces (shadowrend+Chokethorn)
    Symphony of blades (situational)
I might have missed some options

I agree with this list. Lord Warden is usually the "safest bet" I think. In addition to what was suggested already, you can consider using separate monster set pieces like 1xChudan + 1x Shadowrend for 2975 resistance and 129 Magicka Recovery. Other combinations that work are 1xChudan + 1xPirate Skeleton for a selfish 5950 resistance buff, or 1xShadowrend + 1xChokethorn for plenty of Magicka Recovery.

    1. lord warden
    2. Thurvokun

everything else on a tank in pve is way in third place. i have used Sentinel of Rkugamz, shadowrend, shadowred/chokethorn for max mag recovery, Engine Guardian, blood spawn.

all i can say is that dont use chudan, it is garbage on a tank, every skill you have access to as a dk tank, those being balance, Spiked Armor and soon to be the new Unstoppable are way better way to get those resists and they come with great passives and you lose out on an actual useful, to the group monster set, that it just does not make sense to use chudan on a tank in pve. i always feel a little let down when i see the tank i just joined wearing that set.

Tanking in Stonekeeper is like driving with air suspension, it's the Cadillac Deville of monster sets

Thanks guys. While I was away I was running vICP and I now have a medium Lord Warden helm at my disposal. Think of running a 5/1/1 setup with light/medium on the monster to benefit from passives.

Lord Warden gets more mileage in trials than in 4mans, but it's there. Stack heavy fights with no movement make it shine, but I find ranged dps never like to stand in it. Save it for supplementing 2 stam dps.

Chudan - as noted, for the lazy.

Stonekeeper is situational as you either have to do a ton of blocking / permablocking, or face a large qty or fast # of attacks. Outside of those uses it won't proc.

Malubeth makes survival super easy in terms of healing, especially for 3 dps / 1 tank runs with no healer. <3 Malubeth. This helm is beastmode.

Swarm Mother gives free chains to non-DKs, especially handy for speedruns or dungeons with 17,000 ranged adds. It's the vDSA ez mode helm.

If none of those work for you, the best generic all-around is 1 piece Domihaus, 1 piece Chudan just for stats.
