So I play from australia with 350ms ping and I've been told that ping doesn't matter that much in pvp.

I've played just about every mmo that has pvp in it but I am really struggling to enjoy and get into BG's in ESO. I've done seiging and pvp in Aion as a cleric, I've done BG's in AoC, I've played and enjoyed pvp in wow both vanilla and more recent patches. I've played pvp in seiges in BDO. I've played and enjoyed wildstar pvp BG's.

Anyway my major issue is I take a *** tonne of damage in the shortest amount of time from either 1 player or 2-3 players, I try and use all my abilities like the buffs across both bars. I have pvp gear thats from a pvp build site that is geared towards doing damage but even when I gear towards taking damage I either can't do damage or like with my crit resist impregnable set I still can't stay alive to do damage.

This experience is only in BG's seige pvp like cyrodiil I have no problems enjoying the content and IC I have had an ok time. Deuling it's the same thing it *** sux arse!

So If someone could help me with a good starter build or tell me what's up coz I am gonna run outa things to do in this game soon if I can't do BG's.

I've also tried watching some streamers to get tips But I feel like everything I've tried thus far to enjoy BG's has been a waist of time and effort.

I have a Stam DK I started with the intetion to pvp with in BG's but I am wearing shacklebreakers and spriggans and have about 1300 crit resist well someone told me recently that I should be around 2500.
So I thought I'd try my stam warden with a set of impregnable with deadly sets but even at 3200 crit resist I get stomped by single players in BG's I might get some kills but it feels like I still take a heap of damage.

The damage in this game compared to every game I have ever played seems way higher. I'm 43 and have been playing mmo's since my 30's so easily 13 years or so.

Dealing with premades is impossible. Those are not 4 individuals with top builds, those are one big build. Only premades can beat premades.

The other point is most probably weaving. It requires a lot of experience or a macro keyboard and the willingness to use the meta weave for your class.

Many people have fun in 10-49 BG's and then hit an invisible wall.

I had basically the same experience you did. I also played a Cleric on Aion (and most other MMORPGs) and I was nearly traumatized by how quickly other players swarmed atop me and destroyed me and how pathetic and useless my heals were as a counter. This game's PvP is significantly different than other MMO's I have played - especially as it relates to healing - which is far weaker than on most other games. Clerics on Aion - especially in PvP - are like Gods when compared to healers on this game. This may be improving next update. But I doubt by much.

I wish I could give you better advice. But unfortunately there really isn't none to be had. If 2 or 3 good players get on top of you you're going to get melted in battlegrounds. The best you can do is try to avoid situations where you are outnumbered. As soon as you see more than one player get on you withdraw toward other players - hide behind structures - or just plain run - and do your best to stay out of the endless ground effects players spam every where. Mobility > everything else. If you try to stand your ground against multiple attackers you're going to die on this game's PvP. It's as simple as that. In other words: taking heaps of damage is normal. That's just how this game's PvP is. Note this is only when matched against top tier players. As with all situations regarding PvP - things can vary greatly depending on your opponents.

As far as 1v1 goes though you should be able to throw something together that can handle yourself there. This game's PvP actually does work in a 1v1 situation. But I'll leave that for others since I don't play DK or Warden.

Ping affects PvP a lot. It affects bar swapping, ani cancelling, getting ults to go off and seeing other players' animations. Break free bugs out the majority of the time.

Cyrodil lag is a thing...that's why there are 1000s of threads about it. Add ping at 3 times the length of time the other people you are fighting against and prepare to die a lot. You just won't see stuff in time to counter.

But you can learn to work with it....1000's of Oceanic /SEA players have.In open world, find a guild to zerg with or build tanky to resist initial burst. Play with DoT and bleed and heavy attack builds (you'll get suck in HA quite often : use the resource regen as aprt of your set up.) Just don't rely on fancy 3 buttons timed to burst /instant bar swap/ reliable proc/light attack weave rotations.

In BG's you can also build to compensate...eg one bar heavy attack sorcs, double barring heals on your healer, shield spamming, or building tanky. But trying to play high burst dps glass cannon and depending on twitch reflexes won't cut it.

TL :DR make your own builds, don't copy streamers whose skills reliably
go off and who whine when their ping hits 120 ms. They have no clue what works for us.

This is a pity...aussie ping used to be about 220ms in Cyrodil 3 years ago, ie just on the limit of not noticably affecting game play. It's pushing 380ms for most of us now. Makes the fast pace of ESO combat not as much fun as it used to be.

Anyone who told you that ping doesn't matter in pvp was lying to you. After reaction time and muscle memory development, I'd say it's the 3rd most important factor in deciding who will win a fight. When 2 skills and 2 effects hit you in one second with high ping, your toon just kind of stutters as your client tries to figure out if you're still alive or cc'd or not, followed by a pathetic death flop and recap. Just watch some top streamers and look how smoothly their game runs compared to one with high ping and you'll probably never pvp again just out of despair.
