Hatchlings shell and another ?

PooPsie337
Is hatchlings shell a good set for tanking? It seems to be doing a good job for me just wanting some feedback. And also when is the patch with all the changes coming out? Did it just come out today or when scalebreaker comes out

Hatchling's is a good example of a "selfish" tanking set, which means you are buffing yourself instead of the group. That damage shield is weak and will melt fairly quickly. Fortified Brass is far superior with much better, and constant, resistances. Mix it with Plague Doctor and you have a great pair of sets for a beginner tank.

Once you get into more group play, i.e. trials or DLC vet dungeons, you'll be expected to run sets that support the group in addition to keeping you alive. Ebon Armory, Alkosh, and the new Yolnahkriin are good examples.

Thank you I have plague doctors already so I'll get fortified brass next. What about the monster set? I have pirate helm and Lord warden shoulders for the resistances

Its a fantastic tanking set, but its "selfish". Many trial groups will expect the tank to be wearing sets which support the group. For dungeons Id say if you like the set, crack on.

You could consider switching to Brands of the Imperium, which has a similar 5th piece bonus, but is not "selfish" as the damage shield (12k) applies to allies within 8m of you.

For some real fun... put them both on! Then put a psijic skill on to proc a damage shield when blocking, max out the CP points for another block damage shield, slot a skill that procs a damage shield like Shield charge, and slot Bone shield as well and keep that up, slot Barrier as an ulti... DAMAGE SHIELD HEAVEN!!!

If your going selfish the hatchlings, plague doctor and chundan

If you want more group friendly then imperium, Ebon and Warden then do as mentioned below

    Dungeons use recommended

Just a thought why not go ice staff and take the stamina version of the undaunted taunt and bone shield for your stamina usage

Necromancer and Wardens would work for this both have utility for the groups an area Armour buffs or aoe armour debuffs

Yes well here is the breakdown. I'm cp 624, and my main char is a stamcro. I have been DPS and healer b4 so I wanted to tank. So Im tanking normal dungeons to learn the ropes and I'm running plague doctors, hatchlings shell, pirate skeleton helm, Lord warden shoulders and sword and shield frontbar with ice destroy back bar. Where can make improvements?

Lord Warden is one of the best. Mighty Chudan is another. They are slightly harder to get as they are in DLC dungeons. Stonekeeper and Thurkovun are lesser-used but work as well.

For easier to get/non-DLC monster sets that are effective, there is Scourge Harvester, Chokethorn, Shadowrend, and Bloodspawn.

There are many, many combinations that work. In fact, I think tanks have the most options of gear in the game. You can go full selfish, full support, or anywhere in the middle. Leeching Plate is awesome for "selfish" tanking, but it comes with a damage procc for the group. Torug' Pact is a great craftable set like Fortified Brass that can be combined with many other sets depending on what you want to do. Galenwe is another set that is awesome for 3 DPS dungeon runs

Most depend on what the off or main tank is wearing, what is the content, what is your group mostly comprised of, and so on. Ebon is nearly universal, but its rare 2 tanks both wear Ebon in trials, so its good that you have multiple sets. Such as one in Ebon and the other in Yolnahkriin. But the main thing when it comes to tanking is knowing mechanics and holding aggro. If you can do that, you will be very, very popular.

Edit: when it comes to monster sets, most are worn in 2-piece matching combos. Although, there are combinations like Chokethorn + Shadowrend
