Apex and Radiant Apex Mounts

While I may be newer to the game I quickly noticed the annoyance of the crate system with the looming temptation of scoring an Apex mount. Without getting into the pay to look pretty system does anyone know if ESO has ever considered making these crown items with a ridiculous amount required? From what I have read just throw something in the neighborhood of 20,000 or 30,000 crowns on it. Surely with what some folks have reported spending people would jump at the opportunity to get one guaranteed when they knew what they actually had to spend.

As much as I agree that will never happen because it makes ZOS less money. Best we can hope at this point is for lootboxes to be banned world-wide so they're forced to change the system.

There already is an approximate cap on what needs to be spent for apex mounts. If you open a crate and it gives you a collection item (marking, mount, pet, costume etc.) which you already have then you're refunded 1/3 of it's crown gem value. So as you open more crates you'll get more and more gems. Based on drop rate data it's possible to estimate roughly how many crates you'll need to open to get enough gems for an apex mount (or any other item).

I think it's highly unlikely ZOS will add anything other than that. People already complain when new mounts are released which are at the upper end of the price range, and if I remember correctly they haven't tried pushing it above the 4,500 crowns for the elk (even the recoloured version was cheaper, and those are usually more expensive).

Crown crates don't appeal to people because they're willing to spend hundreds of dollars on a mount - it appeals to people because they want to believe they'll get lucky and get one for far less than that, and when they don't some of them will buy just a few more crates to try again, and again and again and eventually end up spending hundreds on it. Then justify it to themselves by saying they got all these other items too, or it's fun to open the crates or whatever else. A direct purchase has none of those psychological aspects so it just doesn't work the same way. Even the people who willing spend hundreds of dollars on crates - and are aware they do that - would not spend that much on a direct purchase, even for the same mount.

I know this is a bit of a necro-post here, but Radiant Apex mounts can't be bought with crown gems, so there really isn't a 'cap' as far as how much one can spend until one achieves the <0.5% chance of nabbing only one of the 3 most coveted mounts from a crown crate. The worse part is that you can't even see radiant apex drops unless you use the preview button on the crown crates in the store. As a new player this had really confused me, and i didn't even know of the radiant apex drops until i pulled on from a Reaper's crate out out of sheer luck back in the day. They've disabled rare drops from newer, free crates though afaik. It really is just pure gambling when it comes to gamble-crates.

You were lucky. It happens. When the Gremlins of RNG do not smile upon you....

I have spent over 1k usd on crown crates trying so hard to get that rare horse mount but time after time failed attempt after failure. I have every item and all the mounts but not the rare one I wanted so bad.

[1,130ish crates purchased] Anyway, I had the money and my life-commitments were all taken care of (home, family, food and shelter), so I decided to go full Moby *** and grab that elusive "rare" apex mount: the Plague Husk Horse. Needless to say, I acquired every single item on the list but that mount. Do I find it strange that a number of low CP players with gibberish names were running around the capital cities with their glowing ghastly mount on the free crate day?

    And https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/373783/for-those-of-you-who-feel-the-drop-rate-is-bad-with-crown-crates-225-crown-crates-later/p1
I have a ton of crowns to waste because I load up on them every time they are on sale and there is rarely anything I ever want to buy from the crown store.

I just opened 225 crown crates and have not gotten 1 mount yet lol. Yes, that is 75,000 crowns I just spent.

In the past I have gotten most of the mounts from a lot less crates. This time it is not even close with how bad the drop rate is for me.

Or did you post simply to brag and troll?
