Login Rewards for Crown Gems

So here's the thing. I have a life. Sometimes I travel, sometimes I go on holiday, sometimes I get caught up in work.

The current discussion on the Baandari Preview Crate pets had me thinking... what if all Login Rewards were also purchasable for Crown Gems in a separate section on the crown store?

That way I don't have to sit there with my partner yelling at me cause I'm logging into ESO on our vacation because it's the only way I'll get the shiny reward. At least provide us with an alternative way to get these rewards - albeit an expensive alternative so that people who do diligently log in don't feel short changed.

Open up all the old missed rewards and those random pets for purchase. ZOS gets money, players can sink Crown Gems and everyone is happy.

I'm in a similar situation - I often miss days because I'm away and have missed the big reward in several months as a result, but I'd be against this idea because it feeds into the increasing trend of 'pay to not play' where you can buy a game then pay extra to skip actually playing it and simply get all the rewards. It would also defeat the point of login rewards which are to give players an additional incentive to actually log in. Between the two I think it would be worse for the game and for players to offer this option than for some people, myself included, to miss out on login rewards.

If ZOS did want to offer an alternative I'd prefer a system like some other games have where you don't lose or miss rewards when you don't log in, you just don't progress to the next one - so people who miss days end up behind other players but will eventually get to those rewards. Or an in-game catch up mechanic - something you can earn by playing and then spend to catch up on login rewards you would otherwise miss. (Like event tickets.)

Having said that however they're doing something kind-of similar to what you asked for in that some of the unique login rewards have appeared again as crown crate items - for example the Dusky Fennec Fox was the unique reward in June 2018, and now it's in the Baandaari Crates.

Really? OMG, this is a game. The wife and I go on vacation a lot and never worry about log in rewards.

If you do then...well..honestly you need to take a step back until you understand that it is only pixels in a game...

To add, login rewards exist for one reason - to cultivate addiction. They are there to make you feel you will miss out unless you compulsively log in to play the game. That the OP wants to now PAY MONEY for this is a demonstration of how powerful this sort of predatory marketing really is.

Do yourself a favor now and repeat after me - daily log in rewards do not matter. Say that over and over until you believe it. Don’t fall victim to predatory marketing.

Don't encourage them re: gems. How about in game gold or just regular old crowns instead?

No thanks. I'd remove gems and scam crates altogether.

I think you need a break from REWARDs, it is becoming genuinely pathological. *the bust of Burrhus Skinner in Firor's office nods in agreement*
