If we don't have these huge changes like this every year, the games economy will die...

Let me explain...(this is going to be annoying AF to do...but I'll try)

Unlike my dumb brother who thinks the changes should be in our faces 24/7 for transparency, I believe they should not. There would be so many people complaining trying to change something that no meaningful work would get done...That leaker was a crybaby idiot....

Sorry guys I was going to say "with almost 2 Decades of playing MMOs...I know what causes them to fail" I want this to be quick and easy...

1. The elites ALWAYS destroy the game...unintentionally of course...They have a greater than thou human complex..which is natural...
2. At a certain point the elites will have the best meta armor and an exuberant amounts of gold.
3. Prices for certain elite things will go up...because the players are targeting those elitists wallets...
4. This makes it hard for the common folk to get those items so they have to make a choice when they get one in their hands..Keep or sale?
5. Newer players coming into the game will play for a week or at most some months and realize they can't get over that hump and quit
6. Elites with their unique sets will participate in the PTS (which is funny they give you any set in that lol) and clear a new vet dungeon on a difficulty.
Us normies and noobs alike just sit there dumbfounded when they shout in live for a vet dungeon in chat and whisper "is your DPS 35k+?"
7. Strangely enough you will have some elitists CHARGING to "carry" you through a dungeon..."15 M for vet SS"
(i replied "can it be done without me owning the DLC?" No, "THEN WHY THE HELL WOULD I PAY THAT" GOOD DAY SIR)
8. Current players will realize they can't buy the items they need because the same current players are hoping their items are bought by elitists
9. The current player base will start to quit the game, this will make prices of now the everyday items go even HIGHER
10. Faint whispers in the forum titled " is the game dead" will start to show up as the gap between the elites and the noobs becomes black and white
11. There will be arguments about whose fault is it the game is dead...someone will challenge an elitist to start from zero with no help like an actual noob...
12. The elitist will either reject... or try and reject...saying that line "I worked hard to get to where I am at today" (knowing full well that the armor they bought yester year was extremely cheap)
13. Usually this is where the company still stays afloat even though there are barely any players because they can milk every ounce of dignity from the elites by giving them the illusion that they
are the best feeding their greater than thou complex...They usually break their own principles at this point....
14. No new players are coming in and current players are on the decline...yes..every so often a new elite is born...This is because the elitist need a handful of people to replace their group run
numbers...
15. PVP is just dead at this point...only PVE content is created because it can be done at one owns pace...
16. At a certain point, the money in finally drops below the money out..there will be some crazy deals and perks to stop the final flame from dissipating...but at the end the servers shut down and
you are thanked for your time playing the game...

Nobody has found the solution to this problem yet...If they did they would become the next greatest economist in the world...Nobel prize shet right there...

The elitist problem is like a bell curve
A games life is like a bell curve...

There is a reason for that...

These "CHANGES" zos is doing are different, will they work? only time will tell...Usually at this point most games are on the path to death...

By having a type of reset every year, they are trying to get away from the bell curve and on to a sine wave type thing...

Once everybody chooses a meta set.. rework it...or make a better set....

The proc chances need to be removed out the game... every proc chance bogs down the game in pvp...

More radical but needed changes are to come...

Damn well said. Too bad most of the forums users, will not understand a thing you illustrated. Too bad ZOS more than likely already don't care.

    Then you should leave.

Especially considering that what you have stated is entirely incorrect and shows a lack of perspective and reading comprehension.

You can’t pay to open skill lines. You still have to earn them.

Once earned, however, they will now be available account wide if you choose to not re-earn them on your alts.

    That’s pay-to-avoid-duplicate-effort, not pay-to-win.

Wut? My guilds have completed all vet content so far (might be still working on some specific achievements), but they only ever require 25k dps to join in vet content. I’m not a huge PvEr and acquired BiS gear (albeit normal relequen) for stamina dps quite easily by joining random guild runs or lfg runs with a basic 25k dps. All games are going to have a certain way they are played. But to say you’re shut out of content because you can’t reach the upper tier DPS marks is just untrue. It just means you’re not making the effort to find a good guild or putting in a bit of effort to reach decent dps numbers or learn to heal/tank properly.

Also you’re welcome to participate in PTS. Again, a good guild will likely set up a PTS run for anyone who wants to join.

Also, it would seem that incoming “noobs” and “normies” or people participating primarily in leisurely content, makeup the vast majority of ESO players. Most content is created for that individual.

If ESO dies it will most likely be performance related.

TLDR: ZOS is trying to drag out the "I came, I saw, I conquered, then I got bored, so I found another game" cycle by constantly changing the meta and periodically nerfing power creep.

It won't stop that cycle, but it makes it take longer, and in the meantime, ZOS hopes you spend more money on the game before you inevitably leave.

Damn that was perfect summary!! I agree there is no known solution to the problem.. (like i said nobel prize would be given out for such a solution no doubt) I understand the dissatisfaction from all sides of the ZOS changes...but if we don't let them happen.. the game dies faster...

Just know ZOS when you make a change that is against a certain ethical standpoint you will hear from me...and I will tear into you...

Right now, I am just cruising along...seeing what solutions you guys create...

This is the first sensible take I've seen on these changes, I have only one thing to add. I came here from a different game who did the same, only their changes were a bit more far reaching perhaps because they hadn't made major changes in nigh on forever.
To make a very long and convoluted story short(ish) they ended up losing a lot of their old players and the new expansion that the changes came with did not bring in enough new players to offset this loss. In fact the bleed off of old gamers and the lack of new ones appears to have been bad indeed because the devs in that game came out less than month later and more or less apologized from the changes and began to switch some of them back.
Yes I was one of the people who left because it was no longer the game or the class I signed up to play, so I did the only thing you can do in that situation, pack up and leave.

So what ZOS is doing here is tricky and may indeed backfire on them. Too radical and a lot of old players will leave, which may mean nothing if Elseweyr part 1 & 2 brings in enough to offset that loss or even increase the player base. If not, the game may indeed die off even more quickly. Of course, if they're not radical enough in their changes they've done little except annoy old players while more or less maintaining the status quo.

Whether or not this works and how well only time will tell. So far I am enjoying myself here and my playing style will not be overly bothered by these changes so I see no reaskn to leave right now.

I understand OP's point but my own feeling is totally different and very simple: I have seen that every single patch makes my game less fun so I dread any/all patches now.
