Trash community, good luck keeping this game alive

Me and my friend started playing ESO about 3 months ago, despite the technical difficulties and etc. we'd been somewhat enjoying ourselves, leveling, doing dungeons and learning the game. We read up on everything, we were prepared when we went into our first Veteran Dungeon at CP160. People were quiet, but sure, whatever and a few were *** because we were new, but today honestly what happened just perfectly encapsulates this community;

I'm CP 301, my friend is CP 245, we sign up to do our daily Veteran which we've both been doing regularly. (I should even add we both have our monster sets and have cleared nearly all of the non-DLC dungeons on veteran at least once). Que today, we join Crypt of Hearts 2 Veteran and immediately our tank says "GL" followed by "Low level CP shouldn't be able to do vet" he sticks both of us on ignore before we can even say anything and leaves the guild. Sure, we got a replacement, we finished it without a single wipe but what's the point if this is people's attitude?

Like seriously the cesspool of scum that plays this game, good luck keeping it alive you braindead *** when you treat newcomers to the game like this.

It's quite a hyperbolic generalization to call the community trash and suggest the game will die because you encountered one player who was mean.

Yeah I'm sad you had that experience. I stopped playing for about 2 years and when I came back I noticed PUGs have become really toxic. My advice: keep playing with your friend and find yourselves a friendly guild.

Sometimes you run into bad people, it happens. But you shouldn't let it ruin your opinion on the entire community, I am sorry you had this happen though.

It is simply not fair to generalize the whole population because you met a jerk in a pug dungeon.
Jerks exist in all walks of life.

Honestly, when you enter the GF you are asking for a chance at the worst possible experience. it is better to find a reasonably active guild that suites your play style and form your groups from there. You will find that guild members are usually more likely to have more patience than those in GF that blame others for their on incompetence.

And yea, as Arch said, sorry you got such a crap tank. Given their comment they are either a crap tank or just a bitter salty pill that no one wants to run with. You will find some good players and quality people in the GF but you will also find people that are nothing but sad excuses for a person as you ran into today.

You will have idiots like that in every MMO. So don't sit there and act like its the entire community. You just said you got a replacement and didn't have a single wipe. So no this community is not trash. I have played since release and majority of the time its been a good experience even in pug groups.
The idiots that think that is low CP is just clueless morons that don't deserve any attention. Just let them wallow in their delusions and move on.

Years ago CP150 was a minimum requirement for vet dungeons, before Champion System.
As a CP900 since-beta-player I am strongly against of such behavior, and many times I left a group because someone tried to kick low level character, like <200 CP or so.

This kind of players exists in every MMO, and it is not an ESO community specific problem, but human society in overall. Go outside and you will meet same people.
These players usually have a lot of characters, sometimes - several accounts. This type of players spend all their time on playing MMO game, doing dailies, farming, grinding and etc. Every time I asked them "Why the hell are you doing this?" I got the same response: "My time is more important". That is, they don't run dungeons with a guild to make it quick, but expect same from PUG, where experience usually varies from "First time here" to "I can solo it while poking my nose".

As a CP300 you are not a newcomer anymore.
Don't be a child because you met a bad guy and now you want to cry. Block this person, find another group. What's the problem? Or even better option - find/create guild, run together, beat harder content.

P.S. My first vet dungeon was done in PUG group where each us never did vet dungeon. Elden Hollow II. We spent 3.5 hours, but we did it.

Tbh this is common in all MMOs at higher level. FFXIV is decent in leveling dungeons, but once you hit level cap dungeons and full parties(don't remember what they are called) and the toxicity flows, we won't even talk about WoW, and the GW2 dungeon scene was the worst I've seen, but that was prior to the first expansion so not sure how it is now.

In short, it isn't unique to ESO, it's everywhere.

My experience with the community is mixed.

Doing general solo pve content and encountering people on the way doing their own thing, very positive. People will ask or offer help and are quite nice.

Step into bg or certain dungeons, yeah then you see the ugly side of the ESO community. Thankfully for me, I enjoyed 500 or so hours before I started to encounter the toxic side of ESO. I just ignore and move on, such is life on the internet. Don't take things personally

It happens and it sucks but its just typical elitism youll find in mmos. I remember my gf made a new toon and she had just gotten her to lvl 20 or something, so i made her some new gear so we could do dailies. First dungeon we enter the tank flips out and says im not here to level other players. This was before we encountered the first set of mobs.

Im sitting there laughing cause:

First off she was like 600 cp at the time and could easily hit 30k dps with her lvl 20 gear i crafted her (julianous and acuity)

secondly it was normals and one dps (me) would be more then enough to clear it in minutes

he didnt end up saying a word when we hit like 100k dps on every boss throughout the dungeon.

There are always gunna be people you encounter who are like this, just ignore them.

Its not reflective of the whole community though, ive sat through veteran content with low cp level guys, tanks without taunts, healers without resto staves, dds with 10k dps. its a learning curve and when people take the time to communicate everyone learns.

That's just the nature of the beast, i suppose. I've said it before, i've experienced more toxicity in around 95 days played in ESO than i did in 420-450 days played in WoW.

It also comes down to ESO not having a proper ranking system for anything. They leave it to the players to find out who is good at the game, who is average, and who is bad. There's no nice way of telling someone they suck.

I guess after coming out of SWTOR, I can't see any Community being honestly toxic. I will say that I do believe that the eso Community has more sensitivity, family says the game has issues. vote with your wallet.

....if only because I've been seeing complaints about elitist jerks kicking people in random group finder for like a decade, in every single MMO that has a group finder.
