Can I play this on a virtual machine? I have GPU problems on host computer when ESO runs. It is safe to play? like any policy or something, I have my VMware which provides up to 3GB graphics memory and Windows 8.1 for better performance,

This game is going to be on Google Stadia in a couple months, all that requires is you have a decent ISP and an HDMI port, reports about latency are averaging around 166ms. The only issue is you won't be able to use addons.

I'm not going to spend a dime on anything Google creates. Search engine is enough.

You "technically" can, sure, but unless you are getting really fancy in a Linux Host environment with your hardware on a VM guest (with GPU passthrough for example), I can guarantee your experience will be far from optimal. Again, you could do this but the biggest question you should ask here is "should I", it might just be a better idea and more sensible to just reinstall the main OS altogether especially in the case of 3D acceleration and gaming.

Yeah of course, not sure why you’d want to though. although virualisation tech is good these days it’s not perfect and it is adding a layer which will add inevitably add lag to an already laggy game

VMware provides 3GB GPU memory with 3D acceleration above Windows XP, I just finished installing Windows 8.1 and OS works amazingly well, much better than my previous Windows 10 VM, I will start downloading ESO and will let you guys know about the progress, since this game is HUGE, even in MMO standards, it will take a several days to complete download. I know how painful ESO launcher is, so wish me luck, golden rule: Never EVER click "repair" on launcher. I learned this in a hard way on Steam.

Also installed VMware Tools of course, increased the res to 4K but I'm using 1440x900 instead.

My former GPU is died right in the moment quitting the ESO, clicked log out, and a black screen forever. We ended up buying a new GPU, so even if I get the same crash, it will happen inside of the VM. 3GB graphics memory is used from guest RAM and I did not see or read or enabled any option named "passthrough" and in VM advanced Graphics settings shows me VMware's graphics adapter and its driver, so my host graphics card is safe I think.

Will let you people know when the download is done and game work.

I still don’t understand the benefit of doing this? Surely it would be better to upgrade /wipe your host to windows 10 and clean install

Each to their own I suppose
