Is there a way to put a lock on a character to prevent from deleting?

If there isn't I think it would be a good idea for security.

Don't you have to type DELETE to confirm deletion? It's been a while since I killed an Iron Vestige.

Don't you have to type out DELETE to delete a character? How much more do you need?

To delete a character, at least on ps4, you have to deliberately go to the delete character option, hold down all four shoulder buttons simultaneously, then you still get a prompt asking if you're sure you want to delete.

Theres absolutely no way to delete by accident. It's already a deliberate choice to do so.

I actually deleted a main once. Couldn't get it back. I thought I was on a different character and I was going fast. It sucked.

If you press the delete button by mistake (regarding console) you still need to confirm your choice so, you need to be REALLY drunk to delete a char by mistake... lol

I don't mean I would do it accidentally but I was afraid of a account hijacking or something

There would still probably be an option to unlock the character from this locking because everyone can change their mind. So I don't think it would help.

Yes, you do have to type delete in all caps after you choose to delete a character. One would have to really be really out of it to do it accidently.

Yeah that makes sense but maybe putting a delay to it would work like unlocking a character requires 1 month to be able to delete

If the idea is to prevent a potential account hijacker from being able to delete one of your characters, they'd first either have to be accessing your account from the same computer/console that you usually use, or they'd have to have access to your email as well to get past the confirmation email code that you get emailed to you when your account is accessed from a new machine/location.

Now that's not totally foolproof (probably the most likely account hijacker would be someone who lives with you or something - maybe a vengeful sibling or an angry soon-to-be-ex, or whatever, which would bypass the need for the email confirmation), so maybe a system could be set up to allow you to enable some form of 2FA to be required in order to delete a character. It seems like a bit of a corner case scenario though, so I'm not convinced it would make sense for ZOS to spend the time and effort to develop it.

They need to change it and make so that you have to type DeLeTe to confirm your character's deletion.

    That'll show'em!

This is another one of those threads that I ask myself WHY. First of all there is a safety feature when you delete a character. Before it is finally deleted ZOS will prompt you with a confirmation message and response. Unless you cannot read you have to confirm the deletion before it actually happens.

Security as in what? Typing your mother's maiden name?

I saw the delay idea. I don't want a delay.

Isn't it rare that an account gets stolen? It's probably more common for someone to let another person to play their game and everyone knows that is against tos.
