Except it's the exact opposite. If there was some form of proper communication in the first place, even if that was only "sorry guys, we're working on it", people wouldn't complmain that much and demand accountability.
Entirely ignoring your customers is very, VERY bad business practice. Unless your goal is to reduce their numbers, that is.
