Prisoner's and/or Darkstride stealth nerf?

5-piece for Prisoner's Rags set: "Reduces the cost of sprint by 50%. While sprinting, restore 1000 magicka every 1 second."
5-piece for Darkstride set: "Reduces the cost of sprint and sneak by 50%."

Historically (i.e. since I can remember), the sprint reduction for these was additive, NOT multiplicative, meaning while wearing 5 and 5 I could sprint indefinitely without losing stamina, restoring my magicka while I did so.

Now (i.e. since Elsweyr dropped), my stamina decreases when I sprint, despite wearing both sets, despite all my gear being in good repair, and despite me trying the usual gear fixes like un- and re-equipping, or rezoning.

Can someone *please* explain to me why suddenly 50% sprint reduction + 50% sprint reduction somehow does NOT equal 100% sprint reduction anymore, and why we weren't told about this change in the patch notes?

It was a bug, too small to put in natch potes.

What was the bug? That the sets were doing what they said they'd do?

They are being added consecutively not concurrently now, so you are getting a diminishing return on stacking the same buff I would assume.

So before you had 50+50 = 100 now you have 50 THEN 50 so 75%

If I recall correctly the % in buffs are not calculated additively

some are some are not, its one of the biggest problems in this game

Where in the patch notes is that change documented? Because these two sets worked as outline right up until Elsweyr, but I see nothing in the Elsweyr or post-Elsweyr patch notes about either set,or sprinting, or additive/multiplicative gear buffs

ZOS isn’t big on communication right now, I doubt you could find any mention of the change outside player comments

    Only additive/subtractive areas of mitigation:
    - vulnerability subtracts from % based mitigation (evasion, mist form, sets, undead, protection, etc)
    - crit hit dmg sources
    - crit hit dmg resistatance sources
    - block based mitigation (but not base block)

otherwise it still follows multiplicative rules because the adding/subtracting happens to determine 1 number that is then multiplied against incoming damage.

Conversely, spell/weapon dmg buffs are additive as well. Templars can get 30% extra spell dmg, DK's 30% extra weapon dmg. But its still 30% of a flat value.

Almost nothing escapes this game's multiplicative nature.

At least we don't have miss/hit rolls in the game. So that's a win!

Just give it up. ZOS is going around and fixing these sets that when added together give an unintended advantage. Being able to sprint for free and get a bonus to magic regen, was an unintended bonus.

and that's good, makes it so nobody can become invulnerable by stacking a bunch of one thing (though you can get close enough)

I used my infinisprint to go shopping at the kiosks and to farm mats. In terms of any sort of PvE and PVP setting, I would hardly call it "an unintended bonus" when you realize the hit taken to spell damage (or really any sort of useful stat) from wearing those sets as opposed to, well, many, many others.
