How would you compare ESO's endgame difficulty to other popular MMOs?

This is only for people with other endgame pve MMO experience.

Do you think ESO is more challenging or less challenging? ( Please note, this is NOT talking about performance issues or whatever ).

I would say ESO is not as difficult as WoW BC/WotLK/Cata era (can't comment on stuff now) but is harder than current FFXIV since a lot of that games relies in flashy "Don't stand here" mechanics.

I find the problem is the learning curve from Normal trials to Vet is too steep, there are nowhere near enough people capable of completing vet HMs! Espessially on console where we dont have mods giving us tells for mechanics etc!

Thats an understatement, some people consider nHoF "difficult" to pug. They should try vet for an evening lol

I would say comparable to wow wotlk. At least when i am looking at dungeons. They have the same issue of newer dungeons being a lot harder. There are a lot more dungeons in eso now tho, this makes things harder. More mechanics to learn.

I've done mythic raiding in WoW as well as some Extreme-mode content in FF.
FF ranks as quite a bit easier, IMO, and I feel like it's a toss-up depending on what trial and fights you're looking at between WoW and ESO.

I will say I appreciate the variety of mechanics that I remember from WoW. For example, the Mythic Hanz and Franz fight from back in Blackrock Foundry... the whole mechanic of stepping on the sections of the belt bringing down the slammer; people had to group up and move together. Fighting Blackwing was epic... THAT is a dragon fight; you got to ride on his back and fight his back trying to bring him down.
ESO sometimes feels like just... kind of rinsing and repeating the same old mechanics. That being said, I think it's a lot easier to 'get good' at WoW because of the combat system versus ESO. ESO is definitely more difficult to master, which I think is what makes the trials kind of have the illusion of high difficulty.

I feel like the ESO is in a great spot difficulty wise. Content is accesable and the top end game is perfecting content rather than clearing. This opens up the end game to a lot more people, as content is clearable to a lot more people "if they put in the effort." ESO still has about as low clear rates in vet HM's as WOW has in mythic raids. I put this down to ESO being a more casual oriented MMO. But this is debateable.

stupid easy like in wow. only in wow it was so hard to get 40 people to actually listen. twelve people here is so much easier. played other mmos whose fail mechanics were not at all forgiving. miss one cleanse, remove curse or a add and you would fail. there was no in combat rezzing either unlike here. once dead you sat out.

normal is too easy, vet is too hard, hm is so hard it's limited to elites.

we need mechanics to be more telegraphed. Often you go to a raid, get something on you, have absolutely no idea what to do with it (and most people don't even read chat).

take overload from CR. Has big telegraph so it's easy to spot it's on you. Do people read chat when you tell them to switch bar? no.

There is more freedom for player builds in ESO, so it is more of a "bring the player, not the class" end game experience than...well...virtually every other top MMORPG.

The main issue is its dps centric design. Tanking ,healing are secondary roles to dps. There is no aggro management, Los or pulling techniques in eso. Buffing debugging and CC are either secondary effects from a damage ability so their is no dedication to a role put side dps. Healing is needed but only in short bursts due to self heals. Really Eso lacks group dynamic complexity. But the dps role is hard to master and is difficult to get elite status. It's rather poor design concepts

But it's all about dps . So it's not really about the class it's about the role. It's very homogenized. Not much group dynamic there . Mostly a individual performance to get the top dps parse. That's poor design

I’d say it’s tougher than Toontown Online was, but the grind to get there was very real in that game. I was the only one in my family with level 7 Gags in all skill lines.

If you think about diffuculty in terms of how fast it gets cleared, ESO is probably one of the easiest MMOs out there.
Most of the trials get cleared on vetHM difficulty on PTS within a few days and then when the patch hits live it gets cleared within the first few hours of the patch.
Id say vetHMs are on the same level as GW2 raids, somewhere between heroic and mythic raids in WoW and like T2 raids in Lotro.
And for modern days standards just the right difficulty, you can clear them without sweating in front of your PC 12 hours a day for 2 weeks straight.
If you have a group thats willing to learn and progress you can definitly clear most of ESOs' hardmodes and content in general within 2 months if you start from "cleared all craglorn trial hardmodes"
