Why do we call the tri stat potion that we craft an essence of health?

The reason i ask is because it is hard to tell at first glance which ones are which between that one and the ones you pick up during the game that look just like it and have the same name but are in fact very different items.

Wouldn't it make more sense if the tri stat potion you crafte had a different name or a different color or both from the usual essence of health.

Also, i hate selling them off to the vendor when i'm tired and dont notice it and dont realize it until it's too late and i cant buy it back because it has passed out of the buy back queue.

Or maybe even an item lock for potions so i dont accidentally sell the off at the vendor stand...

Yeah, does seem a bit counterintuitive. I always wondered why it didn’t have a different name/different colour.

For PC there is an addon which colours the tooltip according to how many stat the potion gives: 1 stat potion is green, 2 stats potion is blue and the tristat is purple. Yeah, it would be better if ZOS made that baseline...

Which addon is that? As a crafter having such a thing would be most useful!

    It's called Crafted Potions.

I've asked for this to be changed in the past, but to no avail.

If you have a tri-stat potion in your inventory and you get the alchemy writ for crafting a health potion, it will turn in a tri-pot instead of the health pot. That's a costly difference.

Frankly, they need more unique names and icons for several major potion styles. There are people selling "fake" weapon and spell power pots in guild stores now b/c they have same name and icon, but you have to be careful and read all the stats closely b/c the 'fake' version will break your armor instead of give you one of the buffs.

Yep, have the same issue especially regarding the alchemy writs. Needs a different name AND a lock option.

There is another add on that will help you to sort which is damaging potions when you create your own potions, you can even tick off so you don't have any damage in potions your create and you can create poisons that will both damage and heal/give magic or stamina while poison are in effect on target. As for buying in guild store isn't it possible to filter different effects through Awesome Guild Store add on? I craft my own potions and poison, so I haven't been using AWG to filter potions or poison when looking through GS.

If you see that seller are more or less abusing trust, you could report them to guild manager and put them on your own personal list for seller that you wont buy from. AWG make it possible to sort after sellers account names.

As for tri-stat in general you will trade off duration for effects with more stats active, so it is necessary to check how long duration that is stated in tool tip. Sometime a basic green potions or poison is better then a purple as for how long duration that effect is going to have (don't forget to also increase effect on potions from your skill points in alchemy).

I agree potions are a mess.
There is no reason a crafed potion should look exactly the same as the trash dropped ones. It should be easier to distinguish different versions of potions.

@ryzen_gamer_gal I agree with your ideas. Locking potions, make player-made tri-stats purple, rename player-made tri-stats. Heck, I think the player being able to custom name potions they make would be great as well.

What I do currently is, for the potions that are important to me, carry big stacks (usually 100). The large number helps them stand out so I can (usually) avoid inadvertently selling them. Of course, when I do accidentally sell a stack, it can hurt quite a bit! Lol.
