Real life tattoo

Hey there!
I've been thinking about making myself a tattoo that has to do with ESO. I have a few ideas, but I would like to see if you can share any new one with me.
It's for my arm, from shoulder to elbow (or a bit smaller).

I thought that tattoos were something personal, asking a lot of strangers an opinion...

But ... i have always liked snakes, i had one at home until my daughter was born, and my wife ordered me to get rid of her.

If i ever got a TESO tattoo, it would be a snake.

I have a half sleeve shoulder piece that also covers half my back and part of my ribs on that side as well as snaking across the back to the other shoulder and up my neck. It's all drawn by me with zero input from anyone else. I changed the design over a dozen times before I was satisfied and it "felt right".

The only reason I say this is because... you will have to wear it forever. Even if a suggestion sounds good to you the chances are you'll wish you'd done something different later when that amazing idea for the tattoo suddenly hits you. It needs to be all "you", if you follow what I mean.

Dont do it. I played wow for 14 years and wanted a tattoo. Now I dislike wow and am glad I didnt get the tattoo..

A tattoo is quite personal so even if we suggested something chances are you would have different tastes - for example you may really like Sotha Sil so you might want to get a biomechanical clockwork sleeve; or you might totally hate the idea and would rather get a portrait of Mephala with some black and grey webbing. It's up to you.

You could google 'Elder Scrolls Tattoo' and browse results until you are inspired. While I wouldn't recommend copying someone's design, there are plenty of good tattoos out there to give you some starting ideas for your own project.

Look at all the tattoos in game and choose the one you like best, take a screenshot and use it as reference for the artist, just the arm portion of course.

Never ask for others opinions on personal permanent decisions.

I ask for ideas here, doesn't mean I will have them exactly how you propose it.
It's the same of I do research on Google, what I find there was posted by someone else, and I won't copy exactly their tattoos, I will simply take ideas.

I know I want a tattoo based on medieval/fantasy world (swords, magic, monsters). I love games, from baldurs gate, wow, gw2, eso, neverwinter, etc.
I read a lot of dungeon and dragons books, history books (Alexandros, Atila, Cesar, etc) since I was 10.
So it is personal what I want. It's not a gun, it's not Chinese, or Japanese, not a name, rose, phrase, or whatever you may think (there's millions of tattoos ideas).
I think its pretty specific, I just need to get more ideas so I'm even more sure that what I want is what I want.

Could be really awesome to get an image similar to the Cyrodil load screen. A dark anchor at the top of your shoulder that is on top of The White Gold tower with the dark storm/sky. Then the green Cyrodil landscape to the elbow.

Could also have a small Ouroboros at the ending of the tattoo

I wouldn't do it personally, never understood the need to disfigure your body like that, but even if you want to think on this.

Up to a few months ago, had I been of a tattooing disposition I would have been looking to have some tattoo made from Star Trek Online, now, after 9 years I've left that mess of a game and would regret it forever had I had a permanent reminder of a failed MMO on my body. Now that doesn't mean ESO is going to fail, I'm sure it won't, at least as sure as I was that STO wasn't going to, but it could, and if it did you'd be stuck with it.

Take your current ideas you said you already have, think on them, flesh them out, think some more, over time you start eliminating the less “wow” ideas (I use “wow” ideas for lack of a better term. Don’t wanna say bad ideas because they may not be bad, and popular implies that others should have their say on it, it’s your body only you can decide what you get/don’t get on it)

Also as others have pointed out, look online for inspiration, maybe even visit your local trusted artists for advice, inspiration and price estimates.

Personally I have thought about TES ideas once or twice myself, there’s still an idea in progress and a fully fleshed out idea just waiting for the right time. I’ll share them with you see if the ideas help inspire you;
The fleshed out idea isn’t actually a TES tattoo more of a hidden TES tattoo within a larger piece, so I’ll only focus on the TES detail if I may (I’d like to keep the rest of this idea to myself and keep it unique) it’d be a Daggerfall Covenant shield on a quiet battlefield among other shields for part of a chest piece
The idea I’m still thinking of hasn’t got a place yet but it wouldn’t be arms as those I have other themes for already, the idea would be 2-3 of my favourite TESO characters that I’ve made in action poses, so like my Dark Elf Templar with a staff in block pose, my argonian nightblade archer with bow drawn, and my Khajiit nightblade with his Axe and dagger at the ready all squished up together like back to back to back...

Anyway those are just my thoughts and couple of my current ideas for myself, Hope this helps inspire you and help you find your “wow” idea

P.s. don’t get a tattoo just because you feel like it or cause it’s the cool thing to do. Please only get tattoos you want and have thought about for a long time. Also think about how you will explain your tattoo someone when they ask innocently “Why’d you get that and what does it represent?”
Tattoos are pieces of art, thus conversation pieces, maybe don’t get one if the conversation envisioned entails the response “only because it looks cool”.
However this isn’t to say that game tattoos can’t be made to have meaning, for example, again let’s use my in progress idea of the 3 characters back to back, these to most seem like just 3 game characters, to me they are my first 3 and favourite 3 characters I’ve made in ESO, ESO a place I’ve made a few long time friends, the poses represent actions I take for friends, add these details up you get something like following for conversation (obviously shadow is placeholder for my real name);

“so shadow why did you get those 3 game characters on your arm?”

“Well friend I got them because I look out for and protect my friends that do the same for me, the reason I chose these specific characters however is because these are my first 3 and favourite 3 characters I made on ESO”

I always wanted a Celtic egg tattoo on my left shoulder. Well.... I didn't get it done when I could have, and now (with husband's weird attitudes about stuff), probably a good thing.

If I still want it after he dies (like, he's 14 years older than I am, and I'm 71, so I'm likely to outlive him by decades considering my genes) I'll go ahead and do it. But then again.... my skin is so thin.... maybe not.

Thin skin, yea.... I’m probably one of the skinniest people my current tattoo artist has ever had in the shop. And if I may, I think I hear that shoulders are one of the regions which tends to hurt more than other regions (much like the wrist hurts more than the rest of the forearm)... personally not an area I’d start with but some people can handle it.

Oh another piece of advice I forgot in my previous post >.< Start small guys don’t start with like a full sleeve kinda thing, it’ll hurt more, have a higher chance of infection and higher chance of your body rejecting the ink if you start big

The tatt I wanted is very small - 2" x 3". And I have a VERY high pain threshold. Still, it's not something I'm doing any time soon. And by the time I CAN do it.... well, who knows? But I'd like to go to my pyre with that reminder of my Celtic heritage....
