Clearly, not a good one, since a child could do better than you.

The elderscrolls online takes place during a Dragon Break and this is why we can have x million of "chosen ones" that are capable of making choices that can change things without our whole timeline just going r.i.p.

So, yes. It makes sense from a story perspective it's just that it's not clearly spelled out in the game that this whole game takes place during a Dragon Break. Several People throughout the years have already went into detail about how this makes sense too.

If you don't know much about lore though, then you prob don't even know what a Dragon Break is. But to just get a basic understanding: A Dragon Break is essentially a moment in time where there the linear time is broken and becomes non-linear and is often caused by mortals manipulating divine matters, which is essentially like an average day for a player in Elderscrolls Online.

I'm too lazy to type more or argue over this. But this is essentially why you'll get people that would forget all about you from time to time from a lore perspective. So it's not breaking lore but it makes sense that this would be a thing during a dragon break.

I hate temporal stuff. I skipped out of my last game to get away from that :s

They changed Naryu's dialog and such to remember you from Vvardenfell if I recall. But Vvardenfell, Summerset, and Elsweyr have always had some wackiness in where they were in the timeline even if they're supposed to be in order

But even if time is non-linear, subjective time for our characters is nevertheless linear. Even if any given NPC does not remember us, we should be able to chide them on not knowing us, or at least express confusion on them not knowing us.

Frankly one thing I do not like generally is it seems we cannot chide the Companions at all. The entire main plot of ESO seems to boil down to a high level adventuring party messed up and got themselves killed (other than their leader, who is merely crippled, and L'il Abnur, who sided with their betrayer... but you seem nevertheless expected to trust him blindly). And not only did they mess up but they did so so badly that the entire world is now in danger. And now it is your job to put it all back together... while still getting talked down to by Abnur all the while.... Then in Elsweyr, he messes up again and releases the Dragons.... and still talks down to you afterwards.

Having been rather a veteran of MMOs by the time I started this one, and having started with the MW chapter, once I got through the tutorial, I stopped right there, and did some google searches to see how to start the MQ from the base game. Then there is that absolutely great thread about how to do it here:

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/413807/what-order-should-i-do-esos-story-arcs-a-guide

I just posted that on our other forum for my newer-player friend, as she's feeling a bit confused by stuff.

...and would we not have -loved- it if they had added a few extra lines of changed dialouge to the mainstory and a few other assorted questings for PC necromancers? Alas...

I can't remember the name of the Elsweyr quests involving Vastarie but my character said to her in I think the first one, "I remember you from Grahtwood".
Her response was something like, "I didn't want to say anything in case you didn't remember but you made an impression on me and I see I made an impression on you."

    My 2 cents.

After finishing the story arc of Northern Elsweyr the girl with the horse still offers the pre-Elsweyr intro quest.

Why not make this quest a must-have after buying Elsweyr ? There should be no gate or tower to enter Northern Elsweyr without the quest done.

Zeni really needs a sanity and lore QA. Those little oupsies add slowly up to a big like-i-care reputation..

If you want a story that makes perfect sense then you have to do the content in the order it was released and then it will fall into place. ZOS does it right, imo, by making Expansions kind of a new "starting" zone in a way, very inclusionary.

As for the Abnur Necro line... well... you could easily say that he was saying "you're so bad at necromancy I can't call you a necromancer yet, you'll get better" so it fits as well. Plus, he is kind of a a-hole so it fits his personality.

In games like EQ2 the dragon did not speak to you if you havent learned his language. And his majordomo didnt talk to you if you havent learned the language of the giants.

And how did EQ2 deal with players who wanted to play together although they weren't at the same level or the same progression stage ?

The magic word is prerequisites. I am here since 2015, but a new player doesnt get a choice to start classic or up-to-date.

There used to be prerequisites. It made it impossible for players to group up and do content together if they weren't exactly at the same stage. ZOS removed most of those prerequisites and layers following player feedback.

There is a simple solution to this. If your character starts in Elsweyr then simply go immediately to your faction's original starting point and play from there, there are guides available to know which is the right order. Players with alts don't want to necessarily go through all the same stuff they've already done before being able to start the latest stories. We are given a choice, choice is always good.

Exactly. I got my ESO during Summerser sales. Did my tutorial in Morrowind. Its hard not to notice what Morrowind is A CHAPTER. I.e added content. So i googled main quest starting point. Fihished alliance questline + CH. Googled DLC release order. Skipped Craglorn and IC. Went Orsinium - Morrowind - and so on.
    Simple.

Actually it was stated by Rich in the first livestream for Elsweyr that there is not a Dragon Break going on at this time.

ZOS should refine the Zone Guide. Specifically, the Main Quest metric. It should indicate the sequence of the quests, chronologically.
