Crown sale scammer active on PCNA

Heads up: There is currently a prolific crown trade scammer active on PCNA. Because of forum policy, I cannot provide the username. Brazenly, he has scammed multiple people without even changing his username. He has already received several million gold just that I know of from my circle of guilds/friends.

In one case, he joined a large trade guild through the guild finder to appear more legit. He then left immediately after a scam when the scammed user reported it in guild chat.

Please be safe when trading crowns for gold. Trade only with trusted friends or using some of the services available. Many guilds offer either a guild exchange or an escrow service. And of course there is always TCE if all else fails.

You can post his @Name in such discords as World Crown Exchange, where they have a blacklist https://discord.gg/ZRvAHF8

Various people have done that, and it is making the rounds of all the major trade guild discords. But many people are unconnected to those networks, so I figured I would post a general warning here.

Details on how the scam works? Might help more people to know how they are doing it.

this why you never hand gold to the one giving crowns, always go through a third party

Ah, the consequences of poorly-thought-out rules. Reasonably, you should be able to warn the community by name,

There’s not much to describe. Guy takes the gold and never sends the agreed upon crown item.

Very similar to the other type of crown scam, where someone accepts the gift and never sends the gold.

I do really wish there were an official way to “trade” crown items for gold in game. But as is, there is no real trading. From ZOS point of view, it is two one-sided gifts. There is inherent risk because you have to trust that the other party will do what they say.

A COD style system wouldnt be hard to implement i bet.
You could set how much gold you want for the gifted item, and the receiver would have to send you the gold to be able to retreive the item.
They allow sellings crowns for gold so this shouldnt be an issue to implement, especially since there is a demand for crown to gold sales.
Could even increase revenue for them as ppl would be much more likely to buy/sell crowns if they didnt have to worry about being scammed.

Deep down I feel like this is just a thread promoting overpriced TCE prices in disguise

What they could do is introduce a new product -- Crown Promissory Note -- in denominations of, say, 1000 and 10000.
Tradeable and redeemable by anyone, including the person who bought them from the Crown Store..

And by making it not saleable to a vendor and redeemed by Destroying it, that ought to cover the bases of player stupidity.

We are beeing scammed by ZoS at least here on PC-EU and I don't see the community getting together to show them how things should be done, yet you care about a single guy that may or may not be scamming, alright.

If you buy crowns in the game then that's the risk you take. I don't feel the slightest sorry for you.

What do you mean? I've paid for like 20k crowns in the past 2 months plus ESO membership, and I've received everything I paid for from ZOS? How exactly are they scamming me?
