I keep getting combos by wardens with this and I have no way to block or tell when its being casted. Theres no red lines like in pve and so I have no idea when to interupt. Is it an animation thing? How am I supposed to tell when theres so many flashy abilities its impossible to tell?

It's an animation thing. They draw their sword back; typically most players back up slightly to make sure no one does a walk through.

Just bet that when they're on the offensive; they're casting it

Its the first skill in 2h. You can equip 2h and buy the skill to try it out a few times (pve or pvp) to learn to recognise it. Feeling it will help you to counter it.
