Random BG idea

A bit bored and mostly pointless post as it would never happen, but some times I like to just see how other people think and what people find fun.

I think it would be cool if they made a new BG map that had two small keeps or outposts and only a few ways to flank and most of the battle was open field with battlement spread out. Siege obviously allowed. Winner is the team who captures the keep. 12 players a team like a normal raid. Winning team gets chests inside the enemy keep and it has gold, mats, and transmute stones, or whatever would be a cool reward. The higher rank the battle the better the prize. Dead players have a respawn timer before they can Rez back at keep. Can’t battle field Rez perhaps. Can ride back to front lines, it shouldn’t be a huge map by any means. In the keep is the Rez statue that if destroyed makes the other team take longer to Rez so it’s harder for a stalemate to occur once a team finally breaks down the walls but still gives the team getting pushed a chance to come back, just takes a bit longer to Rez. If they push the enemy back, can repair Rez statue. 30 minute time limit for a match and every 7 minutes new locations on map appear giving buffs to again, help stop stalemates so if one team gets it, they gain a tactical advantage.

I know the games PvP has always centered on 3 factions but I don’t think 12v12 teams instead of 12v12v12 would be a bad thing.

Either way, I think it would be cool. Lots of bigger PvP guilds including my own have done 12v12 guild battles in cyrodiil at low traffic spots and though it’s fun it’s just missing something....

Either way, just a random useless idea that won’t come to fruition.

I might be looking at this from the wrong angle, but it sounds too much like what I play Battlegrounds to avoid: Cyrodiil. Sieging, capturing keeps, not really my cup of tea. I like Battlegrounds for their usually fast-paced nature -- think Domination, Chaos Ball, or Crazy King. I'm not opposed to such creative BG ideas, but I think it's too different from the few game modes we currently have and many people might be bummed to find themselves in a vastly different gamemode when they've queued for a Random BG for the rewards. Just my random opinion ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Old Alterac Valley please. The best battleground in any MMO ever. You could join the battleground in the morning, quit after an hour, queue again in the afternoon and end up in the same match still going on! It was incredible.

Yeah, no issues there. No one has to like one mode and only that mode. I suppose if anything, it would almost be setup like a mobo with lanes and stuff. Dynamic events either triggered by the game or even the players can cause different things to happen like close off a lane or set fire to the large middle area.

Cyrodiil to me is too much running around and the keeps are slow at times. Overall as much as I favor open world over BG’s, it’s too slow paced at times. The game mode I suggest definitely should be more dynamic so you never really feel like your just taking 20 minutes to run to a far keep. It’s like taking the good parts of cyrodiil but on a much smaller scale so it’s faster paced and more in combat time.

I think there would also be a bit more reason for build diversity as compared to BG where everyone is just a tank 90% of the time. Having quick players to flank like NB’s or a streaking sorc could pull off some cool strategies.

A solution to making sure not every group just leaves cyrodiil just to do the one game mode would be like how Aion did dredges. You could only que during a specific couple of windows during the day (to facilitate different time zones) and you could que as much as you want but only in the time span of an hour, in which the window closes. Of course there could be other non ranked windows where guilds could go practice against themselves.

This might even help some people who aren’t super PvP oriented to get their feet wet because you know they would enter cyrodiil while the big guilds are off doing this game mode for an hour.

Even if they simply made slightly larger groups in BG and more dynamic maps I think I’d get my fix.
