Do you think buying skyshards with crowns is fair?

princessdawn982b14a_ESO
I have noticed that there is now a way to get skyshards from different zones for crowns. It seams you have to already have the achievement on a character to buy them for another character. I still don't think this is fair to all those who spent hours, getting the skyshards in the 1st place. I would like to know others opinions.

You got them for free by playing the game.

You can still get them for free by playing tbe game.

You can also pay through the nose to get them and skip playing that part of the game, to get to the parts you want to play quicker.

    What's unfair about that?

Agreed. It's 50 crowns for each and every skyshard, which is 150 crowns per skillpoint. Pretty steep in my book, since, you know, you can still get them entirely free in-game.

Yes, I think it's fair - you either spend time or money. I have two characters I have all skyshards on and four others that have about 70%...do I think it's unfair that I had to spend the time to get them? No. I spent time, but not money. Am I going to buy them from the Crown store now that I can? No, because it's not worth the cost to me. Do I think other people shouldn't have the option to buy them? Heck no...if someone values the time saved by buying these from the shop, that's great! I have no quarrel with that.

    It's a win-win in my book.

It wouldn't be fair if there was no other way to get those skill points. I won't buy the skyshard packs since I'm not big on playing alts but I understand the sentiment in wanting to skip some grind and just play the game already (especially since you have to find the skyshards at least once). I have a job and other real life responsibilities so my entertainment time is limited, I'd rather play some fun content instead of doing a scavenger hunt over and over again.

The requirement of having unlocked the achievements on a character makes it completely fair. So everybody who can buy the skyshards (for their alts) already spent the same hours getting the skyshards in the 1st place.

Besides, it's not like they're free - you can either spend your time grinding the skyshards as normal (time you could have spent making money), or people can spend money to save time. So I think they're fair. Although skyshard purchases are certainly not for me, as I won't pay 150 crowns per skill point which would be 15 dollars to unlock just the racial passives on a single character

Only ones I'd ever buy are the ones I can't buy.

Just questing lets me pick up all the skyshards, except for Cyrodiil. I have no interest in buying any of the ones I can pick up.

    Buying is fine my me.
I am not buying. I use the map, and undiscovered shyshards, to determine what my character has and has not done. I get confused where each character started.

50 cents a skyshard is not overpriced. I collected them on my main character almost half a decade ago, and now that I can collect them on alts with crowns instead of grinding, I have more time for actual questing. It's great!

I have been working hard to level my necromancer.

I bought a lot of skyshards. It is quite costly.

Then I did the lorebook grind.

Now I have to do the psijic grind.

Then I will have to work hard on rotation.

So it saves me time, but does not make me a better player.

It's pushing hard into P2W territory. Don't like it. I won't play P2W games and hope this one doesn't continue down that path.

Gathering Skyshards has never been the ordeal that some make it out to be. I will still gather them the old fashioned way as any alt I have done this on has more skill points than they need. Don't need to gather all of them, and they are easy to gather as I am collecting the other things I need on my characters.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I prefer to gather them for free, but that's because I prefer to play that way. As long as it's the current system of earning the right on one character before the rest can take advantage, then it's not any different from CP being account-wide. Skyshards directly relate to skill points, so I prefer my characters to use the skills as they upgrade them. Chasing down the skyshards is about the right rate for that.

But I know other players want to get a new character up to speed as fast as possible, and I'm not against them doing so, as long as they can't buy their way past players that don't.

Fair? Yes. Everybody in-game has the chance to buy the same thing that other people can buy once they meet the same requirements everyone else has to meet...

P2W? Not even close. P2W = purchasing ridiculously overpowered gear that is unobtainable in-game (or very, very, VERY low drop rate).

Pay for convenience? Yes. If you have the money to shell out, go for it. Nothing stopping you.

I feel that it's not about "fair". It's about supporting people with a lot of alts.
When people have a lot of alts, they start to look for ways to reduce repetition, hence games that allow a lot of alts tend to have a lot of Account-wide this-and-that.
In SWTOR, for example, their "skyshards" (datacrons) are a huge pain in the ass to get, sometimes bordering on impossible for some people especially if a team is needed to get it (Fleet Datacrons). So it's no surprise they gave for free account-wide Datacron unlocking in a game where you can literally have scores of alts.

I think the cost for Skyshards could be tweaked for sure. Maybe -5 Crowns per Shard every time you purchase the identical product for a different alt, with a minimum cost of 10 Crowns for a package.
