This was something discussed many years ago on here and since that time, so many more motifs and weapons, monster sets, etc. have been added to the game. As well as all the other things that would go into making this work (housing, assistants, etc.) not available back then, that I thought it was time to throw it back out there and see what the community thinks. (Apologies in advance, this may run long).
(I know there are many other things like bugs, lag and other stuff people like to bring into these type threads, but lets try and comment on just this topic in this one please.)
Would anyone here like to see Mannequins added to the game?
There are many people (like myself) that carry around different gear sets, monster sets, jewelry, etc. for playing/completing different things within a play session. It would be nice to be able to change out an ENTIRE gear-set with a button click versus what we have to do currently (tirelessly swapping each piece... one at a time). While also freeing up lots of bag space gear clutter.
They would make for a really nice QOL update to the game and could function something like this...
How they should work- They could be earned in-game (quest rewards), crafted (though be expensive to make), or Crown Store.
- They should be their own furniture type (for purposes of item counts in houses). ESO+ would double amount allowed.
- They should have a slot to hold each piece of an entire gear set-up. Including weapons and jewelry.
- They should be namable.
- When loaded, all gear should be visible and in correct place on/near mannequin.
- Standing in front of one should bring up "prompt" that when selected will replace currently worn items with mann. set. (previously worn gear goes into inv. - or on mann.)
Which leads us to an extension of this system...
New Tailor Assistant- Could be earned as a quest chain reward (similar to "thieves guild", fence assist), or Crown Store purchase.
- When enteracted with, Tailor would pull up a list of named mannequins allowing you to select a load-out and swap immediately.
- ESO+ could allow for the gear to "swap". Taking what you were wearing and placing it on the mann. temporarily (freeing up bag space while out in field).
Most of the things needed to create this QOL feature are already in game...
Ease of Implementation- Housing exists (We have a place to put them). Just need to add the category (and rules) to the housing code.
- Assistants exist (Could just "re-skin" one of the existing ones, or add the abilities to any one of the multitudes of existing npcs already in game).
- Mannequinns themself are already in game. (As seen in Hews Bane, for instance).
- Gear pieces and cosmetics are already shown on mannequins and such, in the crown store when attempting to view things that aren't available for your loaded toon type. (So the ability to show gear and such on mannequins is already in the code.
With so many different gear and set types currently available and with more constantly appearing with every new update, it would be nice to have the ability to
quickly and easily change our entire set-up "on the fly" as conditions warrant!
- Say you've just finished running dungeons with some guildies and everyone wants to head into some BG's next... pull up tailor, select your "BG's" mannequin... DONE!
- Just got done running the gauntlet in the Imp City Sewers and a guildie hits you up to asst in a trial run... pull up tailor, select your "trials" load-out... Back to the action!
- Been killing Dragons all day and need a change of pace, pull up..... You get it!
So what are everyone's thoughts?
Should ESO add a Mannequin and Tailor feature?
Would you buy some and/or find something like this useful?
