    ----> $$$$$<----

I agree that the cap is too low.
How about 250 regular and 500 with ESO+

    transmute stuff?

NEVER!!! My characters are waiting for the Tamriel apocalypse when the only currency will be transmutation crystals.

Seriously though. Burn some on gear that you are tired of farming for in the perfect trait. Its why they are in the game.

Agreed. It would be really nice if the cap were higher - especially for ESO+ members.

Transmute Crystals arent supposed to be the primary way you get gear in the trait you want. So ZOS makes it punishing to hoard crystals - either you hit the 100/200 cap and have to use them or lose them, or you have to sacrifice inventory space to hold the uncracked geodes.

This was fine and dandy until they decided jewelry only drops in the three base traits (healthy, robust, arcane). Now transmutation is often required for BiS as opposed to being a convienent shortcut for countering the rough RNG of this game.

I got a jewelry drop last night in Elsweyr that was not one of those traits. It may have been from a dragon but I honestly don’t know. I just found it when I was cleaning out my bag.

Actually ... maybe it was a quest reward.

Regardless it is actually possible and I almost *** myself when I saw it before listing it for sale as fast as possible.

I hate people selling Ornate jewelry in guild stores. Intricate is fine, though, I sell that all the time.

The reason there is a cap in the first place is to stop people hording crystals to let them transmute gear to perfect trait the isntant they get a piece...after all the transmute system was meant to make the grind less..nightmareish, not completely replace it...

at least that's the theory, in pratice people are still hording crystals via geodes.

People keep bringing up Jewelry Crafting.

    A. Transmutation is necessary for the new traits...none of which are necessary to complete content. Arcane, Robust, and Healthy are still perfectly viable. Not BIS, but perfectly viable.

    B. ZOS could have easily changed transmutation to match the new jewelry crafting...and didn't. Instead, Jewelry crafting functions as a sink for transmute stones. And since the people who want BIS traits for PVP or Trials ALSO get tons of geodes from doing said content, you see where the sink comes in.

ZOS really doesnt want players sitting on tons of stones. Hence the cap. Hence the non-bankable geodes causing inventory issues. Hence the necessity of using those stones if you want jewelry traits. You can sit on a ton of stones if you can deal with the inconvenience, but ZOS isnt going to make it easier on us.

Actually running trials rewards very little in terms of transmute crystals when you are talking vet trials. PvP offers the best transmutation crystal gain which was likely to get more people to play it.

    2. Go to cyro, 30 day locker.
    3. Jump into your favorite zerg and ride it.
    4. Get 25k AP with each char in the alliance.
    5. Wait until campaing ends.
    6. Get you crystals in chunks of 50.
    7. DO NOT open the mails, leave them there.
    8. Repeat each month.
    9. Profit.

I've been doing that for 4 months, and i have over 1000 crystals in my mail for when i need them, no inventory space used.

Not trying to be an antagonist here, but if you are constantly up against the cap, that would indicate you have little need to use transmute crystals. 200 is enough for 4 pieces, and as @Darkdex mentioned, you can earn them very easily by parking yourself in Cyrodiil or running with the zerg.

While I think 300 would be the perfect number (transmute an entire 5 piece with 50 left over), I have yet to encounter a situation where I need to transmute more than 4 pieces instantly. I typically use them on a hard-to-find piece, like a Siroria inferno staff, or a pain in the neck piece to farm, like a DLC dungeon helmet. Though I have used them on armor when it becomes clear the RNG will simply not give me the trait I want.

Yeah but my build is pretty much set. I pvp every day and am swimming in the things. I got multiple sets I run 🏃‍♀️ n Pvp, PvE, IC, even sets for doing Dark Brotherhood and every time ZOS introduces a new patch I need to transmute something lol and already transmuted stuff just to transmute.

So, again, I either have too many or not enough lol.

I get that. And at some point I will likely run out of things to transmute and it always stings a little to forego something that has value. But crystals are kind of like monster gear. While maybe, one day that one monster helmet will become useful, chances are that it won't. And if it does, you can always go get it again. Just like it may become necessary to transmute stuff from a new set (looking at you, Perfected Tooth of Lokkestiiz) one day in the future.

Once I came to that realization, it became much easier to let stuff go.

That does not work if you want to use your mail system for anything else, like selling stuff. In getting the 25k on several characters you are also getting ROTW mails, further filling your mailbox.

I have 2k or more worth of crystals in geodes and maybe a couple of hundred unopened ROTW sacks, which also contain geodes if opened one per day.

    I agree. Though I wouldn’t be mad if they gave ESO+ subs a max of 300 :)

Some say ESO+ craft bag isn’t enough incentive (which I disagree with) to sub. Perhaps dangling a 300 transmute crystal cap in front of people would make the deal a bit sweeter. They only gain from the change if it gets them more subs and I don’t think too many people would complain since it’s not like you just stack transmute crystals fast anyways. At least I don’t. If there is a way though please let me know lol. I really need more crystals. Sucks when I have the rings and neck I want but need to transmute all three still.
