Glow Bush, Purple Lighting Change

The glow bush used to light up an area in front of it, which worked amazingly for lighting up house entrances purple, since you can't place items on the entrance directly. Since the update though, the bush lights up the area directly below it, and now my snow globe home can no longer use it to make the entrance swirl glow. Why the change?
